First, I want to thank all of you who attended our Prayer Service last Sunday for those affected by the clergy abuse. Let us continue to pray for our church and those in need of healing. The new votive candle-stand, which is in front of our new statue of Mary, has been paid in full, and I thank all of you who contributed to its purchase. Our Religious Education school-year begins this weekend; please keep our catechists, students, and administration personnel in your prayers as well. Finally, tickets for our upcoming Oktoberfest will be on sale at all Masses this weekend. I hope you can join us for the evening. It will be a time of fun and fellowship with each other. This week we received donations from Susan & Bruce Quinn in memory of Jeremiah E. Hourihan, Sr. and Brian Quinn. We also received a donation from Fred & Jane Slee in memory of the Komensky, Layton & Slee families. We are working on a plaque to be displayed by the Blessed Mother with all the in-memory in-honor names listed. The candle stand has now been paid IN FULL! Many thanks for your generosity! 3 PARISH POLICIES Parish Registration In order to be recognized as a practicing member of the Parish, it is necessary to be registered and show your presence and support by attendance at Mass, and also through the regular use of Church offertory envelopes. If you are new to the area and have any questions regarding Parish Registration, please call the Parish Office ( ). We are committed to serving the pastoral and spiritual needs of our parish, and we ask your prayers, and your commitment, to help meet this goal. Weddings Please call the Parish Office one year in advance of desired wedding date, BEFORE completing any other arrangements (reception hall, etc.). Weddings are celebrated only for members who have been registered with St. Clement for at least one year. The Wedding Liturgy should be planned with care and interest. On that day you celebrate the beginning of your life together, united to each other and Christ in the Sacrament of Matrimony. This Sacrament is very important and should be given the central focus on this very special day. The following practices are not done at St. Clement: the lighting of the Unity Candle, and the presenting of flowers this is not part of the Roman Rite. We also ask that flower girls and ring bearers be no younger than 6 yrs. Baptisms The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the third and fourth Sundays of each month (except during the season of Lent) at 12:15PM. Arrangements must be made in advance. Prior to the birth of your first child, attendance at the Baptism Preparation Class is mandatory for parents; sponsors/ godparents also are encouraged to attend. Classes are held in the Church at 7:30 P.M. For more information, call the Parish Office. Sponsorship In order to be a sponsor/godparent for Baptism or Confirmation, a person must have received all Sacraments through Confirmation; be at least 16 years of age; be married in the Catholic Church; attend Mass faithfully also be a registered, actively participating parishioner for a minimum of six months. FINGERPRINTING: Parish volunteers that need to be fingerprinted can obtain the Registration Form on the Religious Ed. Website. CLEMENT OKTOBERFEST We are trying something new this year Oktoberfest! Join us on Saturday, October 6th from 6-10pm in our gym (if we have beautiful weather, we will also have tables set up outside as well as additional activities). Great food, catered by the Reception Center, beer & wine music & dancing, games, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making (weather permitting) and more. Come on over to the House of Hope on September 22nd from 6:00pm-8:00pm for our first get together of the school year for pizza and games. All youth in grades 7th-12th grades are welcome! Meet up with friends, or make some new ones, and participate in games, fun, activities, and service projects while learning more about your faith. Join the St. Clements Youth Group to feel a sense of accomplishment as you become more engaged in your church community! Also, mark your calendars for our first service project of the year! VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY We are partnering with St. Joseph s St. Vincent De Paul to help with their food pantry. A box will be available in the lobby of the church for your donations. The pantry is currently in need of canned fruit, laundry detergent and instant mashed potatoes. SVdP provides spiritual, food distribution, emergency financial and other services to those in need. If you know of anyone that is in need of help, please have them call the St.Vincent De Paul help line at RITE OF CHRISTIAN INTIATION FOR TEENS (RCIT) BRIDGE PROGRAM Saint Clement s is implementing a new RCIT Bridge program to assist the teens in our parish who wish to complete the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation). The program is open to high school students up until the age of 18. It is specifically designed for teenagers and will help them develop a deeper understanding our catholic faith and how it impacts their lives. Upon completion of the program they will be fully initiated members of our Catholic Church. MUSIC MINISTRY Thursday evening rehearsals have begun for both the Youth and Adult Choirs. The Youth Choir (third grade and older) rehearses from 6:45 PM- 7:45 PM and sings at the 9:30 AM Mass. 5 FRIDAYS FROM AUGUST 3 to SEPTEMBER 28: PRO-LIFE PRAYER The US Conference of Bishops Pro-Life Office is encouraging all Catholics in the arch/dioceses of the US on every Friday from August 3 (10, 17, 24, 31, September 7, 14, 21) to September 28, 2018 to pray and fast for life. USCCB asks that parishioners pray one Our Father, One Hail Mary, One Glory Be each of these Fridays and fast when possible to support the Church s pro-life efforts in our country. COMPANIONS WHO CARE If you know someone in our Parish or local community that could use our help with shopping, running errands, doctor s visits, or just a new person to visit with, please contact the church office. ALTAR ROSARY CRAFT SHOW Our Altar Rosary will be hosting their Annual Christmas Craft show on Saturday, December 1st from 9AM-4PM in our gym VENDORS ARE NEEDED.! As many of you might already know, we are starting a Respect Life Chapter at our parish. We ll be meeting mostly every 3rd Thursday of the month, at 7:30pm, in the cry room. We re planning to make this a session of prayer and discussion about prolife issues. We all need to be very pro active and well informed about prolife matters. The meeting dates for the rest of this year are as follows: 9/27 (4th Thursday), 10/18, 11/15 and 12/13 (2nd Thursday). Please, join us in our prayers, discussions and refreshments. RAINBOWS OPEN HOUSE Monday, September 24, 7:00 pm - St Ann s School Rainbows is a free, national, non-profit support group for children grieving from a life altering event due to a death, separation due to divorce, deployment, incarceration, ill ness, or other painful family transition. Rainbows is not counseling or therapy, but a nurturing environment cre ated to allow children& families to share their experiences and support one another. Facilitators lead discussion time, games, art projects, and journal writing. Ultimatel y, children have an opportunity to work through their grief and heal in a supportive atmosphere. PARISH COUNSELING SERVICES A joint effort of the Diocese of Trenton and Catholic Charities provides licensed professionals for short term counseling (up to 6 sessions) to parishioners dealing with difficult issues, for example, job-stress, family concerns and bereavement. Contact your Fr. Tom for additional information and referral. The fee is $90 per session, but, if needed, financial assistance is available through the Diocese of Trenton Parish Counseling Services.
