Mary-Carol Griffin, Deacon What You Do Matters Last week, I was walking through the parking lot on Rodick Street and spotted a bumper sticker on a Maryland car. It said, What you do Matters. Seeing that in such a random place proves to me that God is truly everywhere! This is true in every aspect of our lives and crucial in our lives as Christians. The world is looking to us to see if we really walk the walk and not just talk the talk. We have Jesus example to follow and the encouragement of St. Paul, James, and others throughout the ages. In the letter of James he writes, In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:17) Faith that saves produces deeds. We can t help wanting to do good works, but they do take a bit of effort. Paul writes to the people of Galatia these words of encouragement: The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. (Gal 5:6) How do we express love? By outward signs from hugging a loved one to working as a volunteer at the Food Pantry in Bar Harbor, to giving to the church of our time, talent and treasure. The world is watching to see what the Christian will do, not what the Christian will say. People are tired of hearing us talk, they want to see us carry out our faith in actions of love. The question you need to ask yourself is, What have I done today that shows my Christian faith? It does matter! Mother Sue+

3 3 ~News~ Safe Family Exchange Comes to an End. 13 years ago, an outreach meeting was held at Church of Our Father (COOF) Judge Bernie Staples wanted help with keeping children safe as they were being exchanged between conflicted parents. 40 members of our congregation attended this meeting. 40 members signed up to help. This was the beginning of Safe Family Exchange. Some became board members, almost all of the 40 became volunteers. Many are still volunteers after all these years. I still think that meeting was amazing! The first exchanges were held at COOF. This church should feel proud that we started a non-profit and kept it going this long. Today, I am telling those who don t already know, that I have made a very difficult decision to dissolve Safe. Our last family left the program in April and we have no indication that we will have another. The judicial system has changed and is not court ordering any family to use Safe. Thank you all for your help, contributions and prayers. Jane Adams. 4 4 The Waste Not, Want Not Thrift Shop Needs Clothing We will re-open in June 2017! Cleaning closets? The E.C.W. is now accepting good clean clothing for the shop. Linens, Bedding CDs Books Jewelry and Glassware for the Curiosity Corner are most welcome. No electronics please. We welcome helpers throughout the spring and summer. Happy Mother s Day to All of the Precious Mothers in 2017 God's Masterpiece is Mother - Herbert Farnham God took pieces of everything wonderful to make moms. God took the fragrance of a flower... The majesty of a tree... The gentleness of morning dew... The calm of a quiet sea... The beauty of the twilight hour... The soul of a starry night... The laughter of a rippling brook... The grace of a bird in flight... Then God fashioned from these things A creation like no other, And when his masterpiece was through He called it simply Mother. 4

5 Outreach, Missions & Evangelism 5 Many Thanks to the OME Committee and to ALL of the Volunteers who have been planning, running errands spreading the Good News as well as putting together volunteer representatives, making and distributing posters, baking, calling, and everything it takes to put on a fair such as this! It is Not unnoticed. It is going to be a great and educational day of fellowship! Ephesians 4:16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. 5

We are praying for you, our sending church daily. May God guide, bless, heal, convict & transform you to do the work He's given you to do in Hulls Cove.
