In the name of our risen Savior we welcome you to Mt. Olive and thank you for worshipping with us this morning. If you are a guest please fill out a Guest Card (found in front of you in the hymnbook rack) or sign our guest book in the entry. We invite you to come and worship with us again soon. For the Hearing Impaired: Our facility is equipped with a hearing assistance system. Please ask an usher for a receiver. Explanation of the Week: "Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey." (Zech 9:9-12; Mt 21:1-9) Our Lord rides in this humble fashion because He is entering Jerusalem to humble Himself even to the point of death on a cross. (Phil 2:5-11) His kingly crown will not be made of gold but of thorns, the sign of sin's curse. For His royal reign is displayed in bearing this curse for His people, saving us from our enemies by sacrificing His own life. The sinless One takes the place of the sinner so that the sinner can be freed and bear the name "Barabbas," "son of the Father." (Matthew 26 and 27) It is at the name of this exalted Savior, Jesus, that we bow in humble faith. With the centurion who declared, "Truly this was the Son of God!" we are given to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

10 Baptism: Received into God s kingdom of grace today through the sacrament of Holy Baptism is Lazarus Howard Leyrer, newborn son of Matthias and Sarah Leyrer. May God bless and keep him as His own! Flowers placed under the cross this morning are given by Matthias and Sarah Leyrer in thankfulness to God for the baptism of their son Lazarus and in loving memory of Ruth Webber and Peter Yenish. A special thank you to Hal Natvig for supplying the beautiful palm trees and hydrangea flowers to beautify our church. The slides from the informational meeting as well as a transcript of the questions and answers at that meeting are available on the Mt. Olive website. Building Committee: Pledge Phase Approved At the voters' meeting on Sunday, April 3, a motion was made and passed to proceed with the next step of the building project. This phase is the collection of pledges only, not the actual collection of funds that are pledged. During this phase the Fundraising Subcommittee will conduct small group "cottage meetings" to answer questions and further explain how members can consider how they might be able to financially support the project over the next three years. The pledge information will be gathered and compared to the existing funds and project costs. At the completion of the "cottage meetings" there will be another voters' meeting updating the congregation on finances and design plans along with a proposal seeking approval for the project. Teacher call extended A call has been extended to Mr. Eric Paulsen, currently teaching at St. Matthew s Lutheran School Oconomowoc, WI, to teach at Mount Olive Lutheran School. Please keep Mr. Paulsen in your prayers as he deliberates where the Lord would best have him use his many talents to serve God s Kingdom. Boys & Girls Choirs: The boys & girls (grades 5-8) will be singing at the beginning of both services on Sunday, April 23rd. Children should meet the directors at 8:15 AM in the social hall. All students will be dismissed after singing in the second service. 10

11 Non-Digital Scrapbookers who use sheet protectors, if you saved any unused liners, the After School Care program could use them for an upcoming art project. Please leave the white liners in the Youth Room or with Annette Feistner in the front office. MVL: All are invited to attend Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School's Spring Sacred Concert on Wednesday, April 12 at 7:00 P.M. This free concert will be held in the MVL gym. BOGO BOOK FAIR is here! As a thank you to everyone who made our book fairs so successful this year, there is a Buy One, Get One Free Scholastic book fair today from 9:30-12:15. This is a wonderful time to stock up on books for summer reading! Lots of Easter basket stuffers too! Everything is Buy One Get One Free! Fun Days Parade: Mt. Olive will be participating in the Fun Days Parade on July 08, We would like for all of our parade walkers /riders to wear a Mt. Olive shirt. If you haven't walked with us before or if you or your child needs a new Mt. Olive t- shirt, there are order forms located on the table in the Narthex. Please return the completed order forms to the youth room by April 26, Thank you! Easter Breakfast will be served by the Senior Youth Group between services on April 16. Students from grades 8-12 and their parents are welcome to participate in setting up and serving for this event. We will be setting up after Good Friday service on April 14 and have shifts for helping on Sunday. Please be watching for sign up sheets in the narthex. However, for first time registrants, $50 is refunded to your credit card after we verify that this is your first time attending. Registration fees increase by $50 beginning May 2. (All students attending MVL) (New2You has provided $146, to date) By signing up to volunteer just once a year y u benefit MVL and Mount Olive. Mount Olive Spring Cleanup The annual Mount Olive Spring Cleanup will be scheduled for Saturday, April 22, from 8AM to 12PM and 1PM to 5PM. A sign-up sheet will be available in the Narthex for the following areas: Outdoor cleanup - Trucks with trailers welcome. Please bring rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows if able. (Postponed to Saturday, April 29th if severe weather.) Sanctuary, Parish Hall, and hallways - (pew polishing, alter-area polishing, dusting, and cleaning) Basement/Storage cleanup and organization great workout opportunity! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Plenty to do before Confirmation the next weekend! Our Monday Evening Services are postponed during the Lenten season. They resume Monday, April 24, at 6:30 PM. Storage Cleanup The Mount Olive Trustees are clearing items from the basement and other storage areas. If you have items in storage, please label them promptly so we know who to contact to discuss their fate. Items that are damaged, under-utilized, or hazardous will be discarded or given away during the Spring Cleanup. Related to this clearing out...the following items are available to anyone interested: the old brown wood tables in the ball room by the gym (about 17 of them), a few smaller wood tables (about 2' x 8') in the basement, and multiple random school chairs in the Northeast corner of the basement that have not been moved in many years. If you would like any of these items, please contact one of the trustees or call the church office. We will set up a time for you to remove them. First come, first served. They will be donated to New-2-You or disposed of April 22nd if they are still around. Please do not return them once you take them. For All You Softball Fans and Athletes: It is that time of the year again and we are forming softball teams! There is a signup sheet out in the narthex if you would like to join us for family and fun. Mens church league is on Monday nights and co-ed league is on Tuesday nights. 12

Bethany Lutheran College The Bethany Concert Choir and Mary Martha Singers directed by Dennis Marzolf and Ann Fredrickson perform a choral concert today at 3PM in Trinity Chapel. Advance reservations are not required. A free will offering will be collected. Bethany World Club invites you to the annual international festival of food and music today at 6:30 PM on the campus green and in Honsey Hall's lobby under the international flags. Mingle with Bethany's international students and sample delicious food and drinks from around the world in this cross-cultural event. The event is free and open to the public. Annual tea honoring the women graduating from Bethany Lutheran College in 2017 will be held in Honsey Hall on Monday, April 10, at 7 PM. All women interested in meeting and congratulating these graduates are welcome to attend. The tea is sponsored each year by the Mankato chapter of the Bethany Auxiliary. Please join us! 14 Native American cultures, Tell It To The Wind is a family-friendly exploration of storytelling throughout magical worlds, featuring memorable characters, live music, dance, and puppetry. Performance dates and times are Fridays and Saturdays, April 21-22, at 7:30PM, and a matinee at 2PM. on Sunday, April 23. The box office opens April 10, M-F from 1-5 PM at or at theatre.blc.edu. All tickets are $10. Jazz Band: Sunday, April 30 at 7 pm in Trinity Chapel - The Bethany Jazz Band performs a spring concert. Admission is free. Senior art exhibition will be on display April Minnesota Valley Chorale performs a spring concert Saturday, April 22 at 7:30 PM in Trinity Chapel featuring Dan Forrest's "Requiem for the Living", and selections from "Carmina Burana". $10 tickets available at the door, from choir members, or from The Lighthouse bookstore. Bethany Girl s Basketball Camp Grades 1-8 A pamphlet from Bethany Lutheran College for the Girls in grades 1-8 are available on the table in the narthex. These same pamphlets were given to the girls enrolled at Mt Olive. Bethany Women s Basketball coaches are trying a new basketball camp format for this year. Participants will be working on Offensive fundamentals which includes shooting, ball handling, dribbling, and individual moves. They will also be working on Defensive fundamentals as well. Community Join the Minnesota Valley Chorale for their Spring concert Requiem for the Living with selections from Carmina Burana on Friday, April 21 at 7:30 pm at Christ the King Lutheran, New Ulm, and on Saturday, April 22 at 7:30 pm at Bethany College, Trinity Chapel. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased thru any MVC member, at the door, or The Lighthouse Christian bookstore in Mankato. 14
