Explanation of the Week: "Unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matt 5:17-26). God demands nothing less than perfection and holiness from you in regard to His commandments (Ex 20:1-17). Your only hope, then, is not in your own goodness but in the goodness of Christ, who did not come to destroy the Law and the Prophets, but to fulfill them for you. In Christ your righteousness does indeed exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees. For you have been baptized into Christ's death and your sinful nature crucified. Therefore, he who has died has been freed from sin (Rom 6:1-11). You are now raised with Christ to walk in newness of life and to share in His resurrection on the Last Day. Christ has brought you through the baptismal sea "out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage." Therefore, "reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

And all the people answered with one voice and said, All the words which the LORD has said we will do. And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel. Then he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to 5

Then Moses went up, also Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank. ~Sermon Theme We Will Obey 1. God s law demands perfect obedience. 2. He Himself provides it through His own Son. ~Prayer of the Church (pp ) P: Everlasting and merciful God, we beseech You in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: C: To have mercy upon us and to hear our prayer. P: Look in mercy upon Your Church. Protect it and sanctify it by Your truth. May Your Word be taught in its purity and Your Sacraments be rightly administered. Grant unto Your Church faithful pastors who shall declare Your truth with power and shall live according to Your will. Send forth laborers into Your harvest and open the door of faith unto all unbelievers and unto the people of Israel. HELP US WITH OUR EVANGELISM PROGRAM! Fun Days Parade: Mt. Olive Lutheran Church will be participating in the Fun Day's parade again this year on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a float. Olive Lutheran Church will also be participating in the Tator Days parade in Eagle Lake on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. We are looking for people to join us for this parade as well. Olive: After School Care Coordinator - a part-time position, about hours per week, which offers a competitive hourly wage and summers off. It involves overseeing the K-8 program from approximately 2:15-5:15PM on school days. The position officially starts in late August; however, some training will be provided as needed by the ASC coordinator. Administrative duties include scheduling and managing After-School Care staff, with a primary focus on keeping the children safe and occupied. If interested, please contact Mt. 13 Job Opportunity at MVL: Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School has a part-time position open in the food service at MVL. This position is for about 6 to 6 1/2 hours per day during the school year. Tasks include: food preparation and service, washing dishes and clean up. Individuals interested in this position should contact Principal Tim Plath at MVL at or tplath@mvlhs.org. Don t know what to do with the kids during the summer? Bring them to the park! The Moms On a Mission (M.O.M.s) group has set up park playdates on Wednesday mornings for the summer months. All are welcome (even dads)!!! Join us Wednesdays, starting June 1, from 9am-noon, bring a picnic lunch if you like. Come and go as you please. We will be rotating a different park each month. CAMP BUS Final Notice!! The bus has been booked and will depart from the Mt Olive parking lot on Sunday, July 10th at 11:00AM. Campers should arrive at least 20 minutes early.
