It is also a time to thank God for the many blessings He has bestowed on you. A ten minute or an hour visit is precious time spent developing our spiritual life. When you leave the church after your conversation with God, hopefully you will be inspired to visit again. Hello to all of you, and thank you for the warm welcome. I m really happy to be here. I m coming from St. Paul s, the UW-Madison Catholic Center, where I ve been the last four years. I was encouraged and inspired by the way the Gospel changed their lives, but the Gospel really does have that kind of power. It was a great experience working with the college kids, but I ve missed being with families, and I m looking forward to helping people here at St. Faustina and Holy Family have that same kind of encounter with Jesus. St. Paul puts it better than I could. He says, I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you, that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other s faith, both yours and mine. (Romans 1:11-2) I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin smaller than Pardeeville or Markesan and being here just feels normal. I already feel right at home here at St. Faustina and Holy Family. Richard was born on March 21, 1931 to Bernard and Margaret Ryan. He passed away on Monday, July 2, A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Mary s Catholic Church in Pardeeville with Fr. Paul Eruva presiding. Yours prayers for the Ryan family are greatly appreciated. The ladies of St. Faustina CCW are planning a sale during Pardeeville s Labor Day Rummage Sales - (August 30, 31 and September 1) Donations of sellable items are being requested. Examples of sellable items include, but are not limited to clothing, games, videos, gardening, books, house wares, holiday items and much more. Donations will be accepted at the parish religious education office during normal business hours ~ Tuesday s thru Thursday s (9:00am - 4:00pm) Due to summer hours, we appreciate a call ahead. They will also be collected after the 8:00am Mass. We will be storing all items inside the rectory, please do not leave donations at the door or in the church. Consider making an act of love to the Precious Blood every day this month, such as an Act of Consecration to the Precious Blood of Jesus and the Litany of the Precious Blood as an act of love and reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Precious Blood courses through the Church, giving life to the Body of Christ. It was the cleansing agent that allowed the holy saints and martyrs to wash their robes clean. It is the price of our redemption, the object of our salvation, and the assurance of our eternal inheritance. As we honor the Precious Blood of Jesus in union with the Church this month, may it awaken in our hearts a love and gratitude for Christ s gift to us, for He has saved us by His blood. God is acting all the time. God is in every breath we take and every blink of our eyes We have to actively remember how God has been acting in our lives to fully see. Please remember the weekly bulletin and schedules will be posted on our Parish website BENEDICT XVI ANGELUS Castel Gandolfo Sunday, August 13, 2006 Dear Brothers and Sisters, In this summer period many have left the city and find themselves at tourist sites or in their homeland for their vacations. My wish for them is that this awaited rest serves to strengthen their mind and body, which, given the hectic course of modern existence, daily undergoes a continuous fatigue and strain. The holidays also afford a precious opportunity to spend more time with relatives, to visit family and friends, in a word, to give more space to those human contacts whose desired cultivation is impeded by the rhythm of daily duties. Certainly, not everyone can take advantage of vacation time and many must bypass it for various motives. I think in a particular way of those who are alone, of the elderly and the sick who often experience solitude even more during this time. To these our brothers and sisters, I would like to manifest my spiritual closeness, heartily wishing that none of them lack the support and comfort of friendly people. For many, vacation time becomes a profitable occasion for cultural contacts, for prolonged moments of prayer and of contemplation in contact with nature or in monasteries and religious structures. Having more free time, one can dedicate oneself more easily to conversation with God, meditation on Sacred Scripture and reading some useful, formative book. Those who experience this spiritual repose know how useful it is not to reduce vacations to mere relaxation and amusement. Faithful participation in the Sunday Eucharistic celebration helps one to feel a living part of the Ecclesial Community even when one is outside his or her own parish. Wherever we find ourselves, we always need to be nourished by the Eucharist. Today's Gospel reminds us of this by presenting Jesus as the Bread of life. He himself, according to what the Evangelist John writes, proclaims himself as "the living bread come down from heaven" (cf. Jn 6: 31), bread that feeds our faith and nourishes communion among all Christians. Vacation time does not allow us to forget the grave conflict in the Middle East. The latest developments give hope that the conflicts will cease and that ready and effective humanitarian aid will be assured for the populations. The hope of all is that peace will finally prevail over violence and the force of arms. Let us ask this with trusting insistence from Mary, always ready from her heavenly glory - into which we will contemplate her assumed the day after tomorrow - to intercede for her sons and daughters and to assist their needs. July: Month of Devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus The Catholic Church dedicates the month of July to the Precious Blood of Jesus, which was "shed for the many, for the remission of sins" (Matthew 26:28). (The Feast of the Precious Blood, established by Pope Pius IX in 1849, is celebrated each year on the first Sunday of July.) Like the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the subject of Catholic devotion in June, the Precious Blood has long been venerated for its role in our redemption. Petition to Jesus Christ Lord Jesus Christ, who camest down from heaven to earth from the bosom of the Father, and didst shed Thy Precious Blood for the remission of our sins: we humbly beseech Thee, that in the day of judgment we may deserve to hear, standing at Thy right hand: "Come, ye blessed." Who livest and reignest for ever and ever. Amen. An Explanation of the Petition to Jesus Christ - Christ's Precious Blood, like His Sacred Heart, is a symbol of His love for all mankind. In this prayer, we recall the shedding of His Blood and ask that He may guide our lives so that we may be worthy of Heaven.
