3 Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.they asked her, Woman, why are you crying? They have taken my Lord away, she said, and I don t know where they have put him. At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. Woman, he said, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for? While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! (Luke 24: 2-6) But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. Don t be alarmed, he said. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. (Mark 16: 4-6) There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. (Matthew 28: 2-6) Ministry and Group News CENACLES OF LIFE PRAYER GROUP Our Nativity rosary prayer group continues to pray to end the culture of death. All are invited to come! We pray two rosaries together and offer up a fast each week. We meet at 06:00 PM in the church each Tuesday evening. The soul that will go to Confession (within 8 days before or after Mercy Sunday ) and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine flood gates through which grace flow are opened. Confession can be heard on Saturday at any Church and still count You have never strayed too far for the Father s forgiveness and grace. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Nativity Church is open 24/7. Pope Francis signed a decree on 15 MAR confirming the canonization of the Albanian-born religious at a consistory on several causes of canonization. The announcement ended the speculation that Blessed Teresa might be canonized in India. Last year, theologians and medical experts ruled that the healing in 2008 of a Brazilian man with a brain tumor was inexplicable and owed to Blessed Mother Teresa s intercession. A miracle is usually required to have taken place since a candidate s beatification for him or her to be declared a saint. 5 THE HOLY FATHER S PRAYER INTENTIONS From the Holy See Each month His Holiness asks for general and missionary prayer intentions. Our Savior Lives EASTER REFLECTION On Easter Sunday, the Church is recollected in contemplation of the risen Christ. Thus she relives the primordial experience that lies at the basis of her existence. She feels imbued with the same wonder as Mary Magdalen and the other women who went to Christ s tomb on Easter morning and found it empty. That tomb became the womb of life. Whoever had condemned Jesus, deceived himself that he had buried His cause under an ice-cold tombstone. The disciples themselves gave into the feeling of irreparable failure. We understand their surprise, then, and even their distrust in the news of the empty tomb. But the Risen One did not delay in making Himself seen and they yielded to reality. They saw and believed! Two thousand years later, we still sense the unspeakable emotion that overcame them when they heard the Master s greeting: Peace be with you christ s Resurrection is the strength, the secret of Christianity. It is not a question of mythology or of mere symbolism, but of a concrete event. It is confirmed by sure and convincing proofs. The acceptance of this truth, although the fruit of the Holy Spirit s grace, rests at the same time on a solid historical base. On the threshold of the third millennium, the new effort of evangelization can begin only from a renewed experience of this Mystery, accepted in faith and witnessed to in life... The Octave of Easter refers to both the eight-day period following Easter Sunday and the eighth day after Easter itself (i.e., the first Sunday after Easter). Over the course of history, that Sunday has been referred to as St. Thomas Sunday, White Sunday and Low Sunday. In the year 2000 it was designated Divine Mercy Sunday by Pope Saint John Paul II. St. Thomas Sunday is derived from the Gospel reading for that day, which recounts the story of doubting St. Thomas the Apostle. White Sunday is a historical reference to the time when those newly baptized at Easter would wear their baptismal gowns until that day. Low Sunday is believed to derive from the Latin Laudes, which is the first word in the Sequence for that day ( Laudes Salvatori voce modulemur supplici -- Let us sing praises to the Savior with humble voice. ). 6 Young Believers HAROLD COPPING was an American artist in the 1920 s-1930 s. He is especially remembered for his paintings of Biblical scenes. Most of the major Christian missionary societies of that time used his work in their pamphlets, literature, and teaching materials. We feature his paintings in many of the bulletins during the year.
