2 St. Elizabeth Ann Seton MISSION STATEMENT We, the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, are an all-embracing, diverse Christian community who warmly welcomes everyone to join us. We draw closer to God and one another through worship, which nourishes us for service to our brothers and sisters. We choose to combine our many gifts to teach, celebrate, evangelize, help those in need and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus in word and deed. Amen. NOTES FROM FR. ROGER MENSAJES DE PADRE ROGER God s blessings on everyone through the summer! During these last weeks of summer, I hope that our families are enjoying the warmth and sun and rain that are part of God s creation. Let us thank God for these days of summer which are given to refresh our lives and to give some rest from our labors. It is during these days of August that The Church asks us to reflect upon the life of Mary. The Universal Church celebrates and reflects upon the mystery of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. Here at Seton, we have many images of Mary to help us remember her and celebrate her life as the Mother of Jesus the woman who taught Jesus his Jewish Faith and Tradition. Let us take a look at these places of holiness where her image is presented. The beautiful and stately statue of Mary praying within the Church. The Marian Garden where she holds the child Jesus. The statue of Our Lady of Fatima and the icon of Our Lady of Chesachwoa, both inside the Chapel. The image of Nuestra Senora de Guadeloupe that is in the Church. The many pictures of Mary that are in the Formation Center to help our children understand the importance of Mary in the life of our parish community. Mary is also remembered and referenced in the John Paul II Garden with the Mysterious of Light Rosary and in the Stations of the Cross Garden on the back property. How blest we are to have this array of imagery to inspire us to say yes to God as Mary did so long ago. Nuestra Senora de Guadeloupe, ruega por nosotros. Backpacks are needed for all ages. Other items include lunch boxes, composition books, folders, binders, highlighters, calculators, scissors, markers, crayons, tissues and hand sanitizer. Our children have to be online as part of their education, researching projects, socializing with family and friends and playing games. The Boy Scouts have created a program to help family and leaders teach online safety to our Scouts. Recently, Cub Scouts from Pack 92 and their families got together at the church to review the Cyber Chip program. Topics included gaming, cell phone use, texting and cyberbullying. To have some fun after the program, the boys built a campfire, roasted marshmallows, and made s mores. SAVE THE DATE As we prepare for our 40 th Anniversary as a parish, we are planning a very important and holy pilgrimage. The date of this magnificent journey is scheduled for March 11, We will be traveling to Lourdes in France, Fatima in Portugal and Northern Spain. It will be a blessing to travel together to this most holy of Marian Shrines. If you have any questions at this time, please see Fr. Roger but most important save the time the exact day we leave is being planned now. Mary, Mother of Jesus, pray for us.

4 Hispanic Ministry A New Ministry is coming to our Parish!!! As part of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton s continued growth and as a parishioner joining with all of you a new Hispanic Ministry has been created and it s in the process of being developed. As part of our mission statement, we are an all-embracing diverse Christian community who warmly welcomes everyone to join us. The Ministry will be led by Deacon Cruz Rodriguez along with the assistance of Jose Sanchez Deacon in formation, both of whom are fluent in Spanish. We will be able to keep our Spanish speaking community informed about the news and events that are happening in the Diocese of Wilmington and the Parish, that are designed for Spanish speaking community and any others who would like to attend. Un Nuevo Ministerio está por comenzar en nuestra Parroquia! Como parte del continuo crecimiento de St. Elizabeth Ann Seton y de nuevos miembros uniéndose a nosotros un nuevo Ministerio Hispano ha sido creado y está en proceso de desarrollo. Como parte de nuestra misión, somos una comunidad cristiana diversa que abarca a todos y le da la bienvenida a todo el que se nos une. El Ministerio estará dirigido por el Diacono Cruz Rodríguez, con la asistencia de José Sánchez Diacono en formación, ambos hablan el español.
