1 July 22, TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Christ the King Catholic Church St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church This year s VBS theme is the Mass so to help explore this as a parish community, we will feature a different question and answer about the Mass every weekend over the next couple of months. What s that squiggly motion everybody does in front of their faces before the Gospel is read? Before the Gospel is read, when the community stands together to listen, we make the sign of the cross (usually with a thumb) on our foreheads, our lips and our hearts signifying that we are asking God to always keep the Gospel on our minds, on our lips and in our hearts. If we keep the Gospel in these three places, all our thoughts, words and desires will be in line with Jesus. It s a physical reminder to us that we need to not just hear the Gospel, but to live the Gospel every day of our lives. Sts. 4 Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton SAVE THE DATE This year, September Fest will be on SATURDAY, September 8th, starting at 4:00pm. Dinner tickets will be on sale SOON at the Parish Office. Raffle tickets will be available for pickup next weekend in the entryway. Every family will receive 3 tickets to buy/sell, and extra Raffle tickets will be available to purchase at the Parish Office. If you did not receive any, please call the office. Help us to make this a wonderful, NEW & IMPROVED fundraiser for our Parish! Don t forget FREE Bakery Wednesday! Items will arrive late morning, (after 11:00), with new items every week. Fruit & veggies also available some of the weeks so don t miss out! Travel size items of all types are welcome. The green box is on a table in the gathering area. Mother Seton Craft and Farmers market August 26 Start working on your homemade projects. (Some ideas include: woodworking, knitting, crocheting, quilting, painting and much more.) A big thank you to Craig & Jenny Nystrom and family for all your hard work at the rodeo. Thank you also to all of the volunteers who helped make the rodeo a success. The profits were $9, SetonFest August 26, Signup sheets are in the gathering area. We are preselling tickets to the dinner. Donations welcome. If you wish to make a cash donation to the festival. Please mark it SetonFest, and place it in the donation basket or the box in the gathering area. Caregivers for our sidewalk flower beds are needed. If you are able, please come and weed anytime. Stewardship Day 2018 Stewardship as a Way of Life: Building Vibrant and Engaged Parishes The keynote speaker is Eric McArdle, president and cofounder of Catholic Stewardship Consultants. For nearly 20 years, he has worked with hundreds of parishes across the country on every aspect of stewardship development. McArdle works closely with parishes and diocese to develop spiritualbased stewardship programs that focus on communication, education, and evangelization. The day will also feature a panel discussion with local parish representatives sharing their experiences with stewardship. The event is Wednesday, August 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at St. Mary Help of Christians, St. Augusta. The cost is $35 and includes lunch.
