1 July 29, TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Christ the King Catholic Church St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Why do Catholics start their prayers with the sign of the Cross? As Catholics, there are a couple of reasons that we begin all our prayer In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit while making the sign of the Cross on our body. First of all, we are calling on the whole Being of Godthe Trinity. We are reminded that when we pray, even if we single out one of the members of the Trinity (like praying specifically to Jesus or the Father), we are always engaging a whole God. All Three are always present, all three make up the One God. The other part of this is the act of making the sign of the cross on ourselves. We do this as a reminder that while we are addressing the Trinity in our prayer, we come to God in humility; understanding that we are only saved by the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the Cross. Our whole relationship with God begins and ends with this selfless act of Jesus, and we are called to imitate the love He has for us, by making sacrifices for others. Sts. Registration forms have been distributed to all families currently enrolled in our Faith Formation programs. In addition, registration forms are also available in the turntable outside of the office at each of the parish offices. Don t miss the boat! VBS starts tonight! The Marvelous Mystery The Mass Comes Alive VBS July 29 th August 2 nd 68:15 at Sts. Peter and Paul for children ages 4 to entering 6 th. MARRIAGE PREPARATION Arrangements must be made 6 months in advance and must be a registered parishioner for at least 6 months prior to beginning marriage preparation. BAPTISM INSTRUCTION: Our triparish will be offering Baptism instruction on the 3rd Thurs. of every other month. We will alternate sites for each class. SILENT AUCTION DONATIONS NEEDED For the past 20 yrs., a popular activity at the Parish Festival has been the Silent Auction. The generosity of the parishioners in providing over 100 items for bids is always noteworthy! Donation suggestions include: handcrafted items, gift certificates, sporting goods, toys, plants, fresh garden veggies, etc. Items can be brought to the Parish Office during business hours. I would like to thank EVERYONE for all of the cards, good thoughts, and especially the prayers that were given/offered for me during my recent surgery and recovery.
