2 FROM THE PASTORS DESK, My dear parishioners and friends, THE CALL OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD The Twenty-third Psalm, today s responsorial psalm, is arguably the best known of all the psalms. The line that reads Even though I walk in the dark valley / I fear no evil; for you are at my side / with your rod and your staff / that give me courage (Psalm 23:4) connects this week s scriptures to the wonderful story of the road to Emmaus, which we heard last week. The Lord Jesus, our Good Shepherd, is constantly at our side. He calls us each by name, beckoning us into a deeper relationship with him. That call, issued to each of us at the moment of our baptism, carries with it the promise of the Good Shepherd: I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). An another note, We are grateful to our parishioners who have already made a pledge to the Bishop s Annual Appeal. Making a Six-month pledge to the Appeal allows you to maximize the amount that you may give by making monthly payments. For example, a $300 gift to the Appeal may be set up with six $50 installments. Your sacrifice and generosity to those who are less fortunate will allow the ministries ou our diocese to offer services of those who need assistance. Cicero (INC) P.A.G. NEWS Buffet Breakfast - Sunday, May 21, after the 8am Mass. Tickets are $5 and are now on sale at weekend Masses. The buffet menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, french toast sticks, rolls, fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee, and tea. Monthly 50/50 Drawing - Reminder - $5 per entry, and since this drawing takes place electronically, just make your donation in multiples of $5. 3 ST. VINCENT DePaul SOCIETY News and Upcoming Events: Food Pantry: Our next food pantry will be held on Saturday, May 27. Monocacy Farm Project: We have adopted a vegetable bed and will be growing tomatoes. We expect to have volunteers plant the tomatoes the week of 4/23. Following that, we will need a minimum of 2 volunteers per week to weed so our plants have plenty of room to grow and produce an abundant crop. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Ruth. Once we have our list of volunteers we will work with you to pair up and put a schedule together. Time commitment per week is no more than 2 hours. NOTE: If you re a parishioner who could use assistance due to infirmity or, if you find yourself in a difficult financial situation, please contact the rectory for referral to our PARISHIONER PROGRAM!! Oodles of Noodles Noodles will be made TOMORROW May 8:30am after 8am Mass in Billinger Hall, also, May 22nd for the last time this season. Volunteers and Donations of Flour and Eggs are always greatly appreciated. "Festa Italiana", the annual carnival hosted by parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua Church, will be held on Friday, June 2nd 6:00pm-11:00pm, Saturday, June 3rd 5:00pm-10:00pm, and Sunday, June 4th 4:00pm-9:00pm at Holy Cross Park in Williams Township, off Interstate 78 near Easton. The festival, which is held in honor of the parish's patron, St. Anthony of Padua, will include food, games, entertainment and a tricky tray. Live music will feature Sonic Entertainment on Friday, June 2nd, The New Individuals on Saturday, June 3rd, and Island Time on Sunday, June 4th. This year, something new - Polka Mass on Sunday at 2:30pm. For more information and directions to Holy Cross Park, call the parish center Monthly Mass of Healing & Anointing of the Sick THIS Monday May in Holy Ghost Church Adoration and Confessions 6-7pm. All are Welcome! Sunday Collections - April 30th Our giving to the Church is a tangible way to say thank you to God. School is winding down all over the place, but our bills don t wind down. In fact, they increase! With the warmer weather approaching we will be using our A/C more, we will be using more gas in our lawn mowers, and occasionally they need maintenance that we were not aware of in the Fall and Winter when not used. Help us meet some of these expenses. Our budget each week is about $2000/wk barring any unforeseen expenses. Like the leak in the roof passageway of Incarnation from the Rectory to the School, that was not covered by insurance. That yielded roof repair, ceiling repair and new carpet.
