1 Communion Motet Tantum ergo Maurice Duruflé ( ) Tantum ergo sacramentum veneremur cernui, et antiquum documentum novo cedat ritui; praestet fides supplementum sensuum defectui. Genitori Genitoque laus et iubilatio, salus, honor, virtus quoque sit et benedictio; procedenti ab utroque compar sit laudatio. Amen. Therefore so great a Sacrament let us fall down and worship, And let the old law give way to a new rite, And let faith stand forward to make good the defects of sense. To the Father and the Son be praise and joy, Health, honour and virtue and blessing, And to him proceeding from both be equal praise. Amen. The Treasurer should have some practical accounting/bookkeeping experience, whether professional or volunteer, along with a working knowledge of Quickbooks or an aptitude for learning software programs. Parochial Search Committee Update The Parochial Search Committee met with Archbishop Cutler on the evening of October 10th. The purpose of the meeting was to develop a list of candidates to interview for the position of our Rector. That list was agreed on, and interviews will occur during the next three weeks. Archbishop Cutler has agreed to a short extension to the usual 14 days in order that the committee may gain some additional information, and to have all committee members available for the interviews. Once the interviews are concluded, the committee has three choices. One, forward a single name as the recommended candidate to the Bishop, forward a ranked list, or reject all candidates, resulting in a new advertisement period for the position. Assuming there is a successful candidate to recommend, Archdeacon Smith will then assist the committee and successful candidate to develop a mutual covenant. When this is accepted and signed off by Archbishop Cutler, he will send the parish a letter and we will announce the new Rector. Until such time as Archbishop Cutler informs the parish in writing of the new Rector, Diocesan Canon 25 does not allow for the committee to discuss the names of the candidates, or other information gained by being a member of the committee. Once the successful candidate is named, the same canon does not allow discussion of other names considered, or other information gained by being a member of the parochial committee. We ask for your continued prayer during these stages in our search for a new Rector. Al Wilson Chair, Parochial Search Committee and Warden 2018 Prayer Book Calendars now available Church calendars for 2018 following the Church Year according to the Book of Common Prayer are now available. You may call or the parish office (ph: ; e: office@roundchurch.ca) to reserve your calendar, or, beginning Sunday, October 22nd, see Maxine Miles after the 8 am service of Said Holy Communion, or Susan Harris or Jordan Gracie after the 10:30am service of Choral Holy Communion. The cost of each calendar is $7, the same as last year. Names to be Remembered There are now two lists at the back of the church. One is for the names of those faithful departed who will be remembered at the All Souls Day service in the Little Dutch Church at 7:00pm on Thursday, November 2. The other is for the names of those who have died for their country in war; those who have lived and died in the service of others, who will be remembered at the Choral Mattins of Remembrance at 10:00am on Sunday, November 5 in the Round Church. Please read each list carefully to ensure that you write each name on its intended list. BCP Missing A personal copy of the Book of Common Prayer, large print, with a black leather cover, ribbon bookmarks, and an inscribed bookplate has gone missing. It was last seen in the Little Dutch Church or Round Church at Evening Prayer in late September. It's been a companion since baptism, so there would be rejoicing at its return. Please contact Sue Zinck if you have seen it. Excerpt from Common Prayer: A Commendtary on the Prayer Book Lectionary The theme for this Sunday is cheerful obedience and service to God. The Epistle today exhorts us to spiritual joyfulness: be filled with the Spirit...singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. This Christian joy is one of the great sources of spiritual strength and progress. The Christian life is not one of downcast eyes but of cheerfulness. The connection between this Epistle and the Collect is clear, the petition of the Collect echoing the teachings of the Epistle. We pray to be kept from all hurtful things which hinder us from cheerful service and, as the Epistle warns, from the carelessness, laziness and self-indulgence with which we are all so often tempted. The Collect concludes that, thus guarded and guided, we may cheerfully accomplish the things which God would have us do, in the joyful spirit described in the Epistle.
5 Direct Debit Offering One of the ways that you can regularly support the Parish is through a Direct Debit Offering. A Direct Debit Offering is automatically deducted from your bank account at the end of each month, and allows you to support the work of the parish even if you aren t physically present to place an offering on the collection plate. If you are interested in giving your offering by Direct Debit, please pick up a Direct Debit Offering Enrollment Request form from the back of the church, fill it out, and submit the form to the Parish Office. For more information, please contact the Treasurer, Jan Connors her contact information is on the back of the Notices & Announcements Bulletin. In addition, we have raised: $90 to support the Deaf Ministry $0 to support Christmas Outreach to families and shut-ins $95 to support the work of missions $460 to provide Outreach in the form of Family Support $ to support our Soup Kitchen Please consider prayerfully how you can best support the valuable and important work of this Parish.
