Last Week s Homecoming Sunday A word of thanks and appreciation to members of the Parish Life Committee and all who helped to organize our special Homecoming Sunday last week. It was good to see 126 people at the 10am service. Special thanks also to those responsible for the delicious food that was served in the parish hall following the service.

Queen Elizabeth s Jubilee - Service of Thanksgiving You are cordially invited to a Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving for the Diamond Jubilee Commemoration of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, Sunday, October 14, 7:30 pm, at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, in the presence of His Honour, Frank Lewis, Lieutenant Governor of PEI. This service is co-sponsored by the PEI Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists and St. Peter s Cathedral. Additions To St. Peter s Archive Collection Welcomed Photographs are a wonderful way to connect with the past and here at St. Peter s we can connect with the Cathedral s past through our own collection of photographs. The collection has been catalogued and put into binders by the unstinting efforts of Marjorie Vessey and Anna Lee Hogan. These photographs all relate in some way to the ongoing history of our church. We would like to see the collection grown so... don t throw out your old photos, snapshots or papers! If you have any photographs or documents/papers that relate to the history of St. Peter s and would like to donate them to the Cathedral s collection, please contact Michael Smitherman or Ivan MacKenzie. Moore s Induction Service. Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you... Truly, I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:37-40 Canon Robert Tuck Our Honorary Assistant Priest, Father Robert Tuck, is currently away for a period of time. On September 3rd, he went to Toronto to visit with his daughter Beth and family. We are always grateful for Fr. Tuck s assistance at the altar at the Sunday and weekday services, and we miss him when he is away. Care of the Kneelers Please assist our Sexton at the end of each service by picking up your kneeling cushion and placing it on the pew. St Peter s Cathedral Flower Guild A Flower Guild Team headed by Betty Robertson is now in place. Anyone wishing to have memorial flowers on the Altar or in the Church, please call Betty at News from Bishop Binney Group ACW The next Binney ACW meeting will be on Tuesday, October 2, at 7 pm the Chapter Room. All women of the parish are welcome. Save this Date - The Binney ACW is hosting a Pumpkin Carving and Pot Luck supper on Friday, October 26. Details to follow. A reminder to all women that the annual ACW retreat at Kindred Spirits will be on October 12th and 13th. A Reminder from the Youth Group Don t forget to bring in your full coin cans and start a new one! You can take them to the Church Office during the week of meet a member of the Youth Group at Coffee Hour following the 10:00/10:30a.m.Sunday Service. Everyone s little bit of loose change adds up! The Food Bank A box is available at the back of the Cathedral to accept donations of food for The Food Bank and/or needy people.

4 WHAT IS OUTREACH AT ST. PETER S? Outreach can be defined as helping others outside of your immediate community, and at St. Peter s outreach happens in many forms. The Parish Life Committee would like to highlight some of the many forms of outreach at St. Peter s. For some of you, outreach is something you do without even thinking of it, while some forms of outreach involve significant time and effort. Ultimately outreach comes down to The Golden Rule Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. A few St. Peter s examples include: > Donations of food are made to the food bank at the back of the church. > A church concert/play is organized and advertized so that all may enjoy. > Donations are collected in Easter folders and from the Bishop Binney Group for St. Monica s Orphanage in Jamaica. > Parish members go to Montague to assist with their services. > Hotel toiletries are collected at the back of the church for residents of Hillsborough Hospital. > Donations are collected for Farmers Helping Farmers. > Parishioners answer the call for community volunteers as mentioned in the Bulletin. > Meals are prepared at Holy Week for the community ecumenical services. > The Rector weekly assists those who come to him in need. > St. Peter Publications, out of our parish office, produces and distributes numerous publications world-wide. > Various Anglican missions are supported by the parish. > Christian education sessions are run and made available to the greater community. In addition to this many, many parishioners volunteer with charities, with youth, with the elderly, in hospitals, etc. in our community. In future bulletins The Parish Life Committee would like to highlight areas where outreach volunteers are needed. Some forms of outreach involve giving of your time, others of your talents while others request a donation of treasures. With Christ as our example, we are all called to serve others. Making a living is about getting, making a life is about giving. 5 OBSERVANCE OF ST. MICHAEL & ALL ANGELS Sept. 30, 2012 The Collect for St. Michael and All Angels: O Everlasting God, who hast ordained and constituted the services of Angels and men in a wonderful order: Mercifully grant that, as thy holy Angels alway do thee service in heaven, so by thy appointment they may succour and defend us on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Collect for Trinity 17: Lord, we pray that thy grace may always prevent and follow us, and make us continually to be given to all good works, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Holy Gospel St. John 1: Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. The Lesson. Revelation 5: 9-13 And they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Then I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
