4 The Old Testament Lesson Malachi 3:1-6 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. 2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner s fire, and like fullers sope: 3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. 4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years. 5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts. 6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. 7 Announcements Today Graduating parishioners to be honored today during the 10:30 service. We have high school and college graduates to recognize. They are Bianca Carter, Catherine Giffin, and Joanna Mitchell. Join us in the Parish Hall after the service to wish them well in their future endeavors. Next Sunday, July 1 st Our day to celebrate the 4 th of July together with a cookout and potluck following the 10:30 service. Senior Warden, James Brann, will be our grill-master and will be serving up hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken and sausage! It is up to the rest of us to provide the side dishes. There is a signup sheet on the island in the Parish Hall. Please make your choice and sign up today. Let s celebrate and be thankful for our great country! Photo Op July 1 st Diane Jackson will have her camera ready to take pictures of new parishioners and those who weren t able to have it done in the past. This will be for an updated directory and for a picture roster to post in the Parish Hall. We all know each other but a picture for visitors to refer to as a way of identifying those they have met is quite useful. Synod BBQ Lunch Beginning July 1 st there will be a signup sheet on the island in the Parish Hall for

8 preparation of side dishes and desserts for the Synod BBQ lunch to be held on Thursday, July 26 th. Little Free Library is a success. Books and Bibles are being taken to read. We are in need of Bibles to replace those that have gone home with someone. Also, children s books would be wonderful - we want to promote a summer reading program while children are out of school for the summer. A big thank you to those who are contributing to our book drop in the Parish Hall. This is a ministry that can go on indefinitely as long as the books keep coming. Agape Food Pantry We continue to shop for canned foods. You can find most anything in a can. Don t forget - they love pop-tops! Hospitality Our hostess today is Katherine Keenan. Altar Flowers The flowers on the altar this month are given by Katherine Keenan in loving memory of her husband Bob.
