2 FROM YOUR PASTOR S PEN As I go through life I often come across quotes that make me think and sometimes challenge me to grow or stretch. Here are some I have found posted on a Facebook page called A Message from God. Some things to ponder Something to think about: The people and circumstances in your life are there because God put them there. God put them there to reflect the thoughts and ideas you choose to hold in your heart as true. The fact that you may be unaware of those choices doesn t change the outcome. What changes the outcome is a change in consciousness. And what changes consciousness awareness, followed by new choices. The changes you want in your life are TOTALLY within reach but you will have to ask yourself some tough questions, likely followed by some uncomfortable but ultimately liberating answers. The Kingdom of God is WITHIN YOU. Fr. HOLY DUSTERS The Holy Dusters need a replacement volunteer for one of their 5 cleaning crews. Can you give the Lord approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours to help with light cleaning of our beautiful worship space? You will clean with 2 others once every 5 weeks. Pray for Our Parishes In an effort to make prayer for our parishes more intentional for everyone, we have begun a Novena of Holy Hours once a week for 9 weeks. They are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm at alternating parishes. Everyone is welcome to join us whenever you are able. 3 SCHOOL HAPPENINGS DERBY DAYS Derby Days is coming up the end of July. We will be having a float in the parade. We are in need of candy to pass out at the parade. Please donate a bag or two of hard candy (NO Chocolate please!) and drop it off in the Coat Room of the Gathering Space (in the bin labeled Derby Days). New this year, we will also have a tent up at the park to help promote our school. Please watch for ways that you can help with this. 3K OFFERED AT OUR SCHOOL We offer a 3K program, with a full-day option, at St. Bruno Parish School. Call the school office ( ) for a tour and more information. Registration forms are available on the website. 4K OFFERED TOO! In addition to our 3K program, we have an great 4K program too! We are a Kettle Moraine 4K site which gives you the ability to reduce tuition costs for 4K. Call us to find out more information about our 4K program. PRAYER ARMY Thank you to all who have been a part of our Memorare Prayer Army this past school year. Remember, please try to pray this prayer 6 times a day. We know prayer is powerful and have been seeing many great things happening. Keep praying! ST. BRUNO BOOK CLUB The next meeting of the Book Club is Tuesday, July 12, at 9 AM in the Family Room. We always welcome new members. You do not have to read the book, just come and enjoy the discussion, coffee and snacks! The book for July is... Donegal Generations by Tom Gallen. Our Parish holds a Welcome Weekend on the weekend of the third Sunday of each month. Next weekend, on July 16/17, we will have coffee & juice after all of the masses, along with cookies on Saturday and donuts on Sunday. This is also the weekend that we register New Parishioners and offer Blood Pressure Screening. We welcome everyone to take this opportunity to reconnect and socialize with each other. WHAT IS YOUR CATHOLIC IQ? On July 11 we will celebrate the Feast of St. Benedict. His religious order is know for its asceticism which means: a) acid attitude; b) self-discipline; c) self-centered; d) making vinegar. Mercy Focus for July 2016: Give Drink to the Thirsty Pope Francis has declared a Jubilee Year of Mercy to begin on December 8, 2015 and continue through November 20, Catholics throughout the archdiocese are invited to practice the Works of Mercy throughout this Jubilee Year. For July we focus on the Corporal Work of Mercy: Give Drink to the Thirsty. Take these Mercy Actions throughout the month: Donate to Global Partners/Running Waters ( and the Office for World Mission La Sagrada Familia Water Filtration Project ( and practice water conservation at home. July Mercy Pilgrimage Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki invites you to sites in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee that practice the Corporal Works on Mercy. This month, you are invited to join him on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Global Partners/Running Waters, located in the SSND Mother House at Watertown Plank Road, Elm Grove. Beginning at 7:00 pm, Archbishop Listecki will lead a brief prayer service and deliver a short catechesis on the Work of Mercy - Give Drink to the Thirsty. 4 FAITH FORMATION CORNER REGISTRATION We are currently accepting registrations for Faith Formation classes grades Kindergarten - 11th grade for the school year. If your child has been in our program, a registration form has been mailed to you. For those new to our parish, registration forms can be found on the parish website, in the parish office, on the kiosk, or in the door pocket of the Faith Formation office. We ask that you return your registrations by mid July so that we can plan accordingly for supplies and catechists. LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD PEOPLE! St. Bruno's & St. Paul's Joint Faith Formation Committee is looking for a few good people to join the committee! Be an advocate for programs and education of the people in our parish community, for the entire life span. The committee is asking a 1 year commitment, meeting the first Monday of the month. YOGA & PRAYER A six-week Yoga & Prayer session will begin at St. Bruno s with Joyce Brahm on Wednesday, June 29th and end on Wednesday, August 3rd. Classes will be held in the gym at St. Bruno s from 6:30-7:45pm. Joyce is a certified yoga teacher & a member of St. Bruno s Parish. The cost of the six-week session will be $40 and the drop-in fee will be $10 per visit. No previous yoga experience is necessary. You will only need a yoga mat, a beach towel and a willing spirit. Jubilee Celebration for Married Couples Join the Nazareth Project for Marriage and Family Formation in celebrating your silver or golden wedding anniversary! The annual Archdiocesan Jubilee Celebration is Saturday, September 24, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish, W. Center St., Wauwatosa. This Mass honors those married in 1991 or 1966, celebrating their 25 th (silver) or 50 th (golden) wedding anniversaries. Couples married over 50 years are also welcome to attend this celebration.
