St. Ann Mission Statement: St. Ann Church is a community of faith within the Roman Catholic tradition. Through celebration of Eucharist and participation in the Sacraments we seek to live our lives as a welcoming family that strives to make known the living presence of Jesus Christ in the ministry of our everyday lives. Empowered through the word of God we recognize the call to serve as the defining mark of our community. Personal involvement through participation in one or more of the ministries to serve the needs of our parish family and local community is invited and encouraged. The Family Center is an extension of St. Ann Church as a place of welcome and renewal where we strengthen the bonds of community and work together for the building of the Kingdom of God. St. Patrick Mission Statement: The mission of St. Patrick Church is to respond faithfully to God s call as a Roman Catholic Community. The celebration of Eucharist and the Sacraments are central to our parish life. We seek to care for one another and to reach out to those members of our community who are in need.

LOST AND FOUND A key ring was found on the sidewalk in the front of St. Ann s several weeks ago. If you lost a Honda key with a small blue flashlight attached to the key ring, please come into the rectory office and pick it up. MASS OF ANOINTING On Sunday, Oct. 25, following the 11:15 a.m. Mass, Fr C.J. will confer a special Blessing of Anointing of the Sick on anyone seriously ill, awaiting surgery or recuperating from surgery or treatment for a serious illness. Anyone wishing this Blessing is welcome to stay after Mass and participate. A reception will follow in the Family Center for anyone attending. All are welcome. Members of the Spiritual Life Commission will assist Fr. C.J. and serve at the reception. Ladies Monthly Luncheon ~ The October 5th luncheon for the woman of our parish has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict. The luncheon will resume on the first Monday of November, Nov. 2nd. Please bring a dish to share. Rediscover their Spiritual Roots Pope Francis, in his encyclical The Joy of the Gospel, continually raises the need for the Church to reach out to people - in a spirit of welcome, understanding and mercy. The Diocese of Springfield, under the leadership of Bishop Rozanski, has begun planning for an evangelization process designed to reach out to those who may be disenfranchised in some way, inviting them to Rediscover their Spiritual Roots. It is our hope that this process will encourage people to take a fresh look at our church and faith tradition. In order for us to plan an effective program we need to hear from you about your experiences with the church, the strengths you perceive and the areas which cause you difficulty or may need more attention. Please consider participating in and sharing with local family and friends an on-line survey now available which will help us understand these issues. It is open through October 5 to all active and inactive Catholics, as well as non-catholics who work and collaborate with our faith community. The survey can be accessed through both diospringfield.org and iobserve.org. Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts with us! ST. THERESE S PARENTS TO BE CANONIZED St. Ann Church (and many Roman Catholic Churches throughout the world) have a statue of St. Therese of Lisieux within their church. At St. Ann's, her statue is just inside the main doors to the left. On Thursday, Oct. 8, her parents (Louis Martin and Maria Zelie Guerin Martin) will be canonized as saints of the church. The two will be the first married couple to be canonized in the same ceremony. As you enter church this weekend, please notice the flowers in front of their daughters statue and think of your own wonderful parents and the model they were for you. A Note From Fr. C.J. You would be paired with another member and asked to give us a hour or two, every 5 to 6 weeks, to polish up the Altar and sacristies at St. Ann Church. That being said, St. Ann s Family Life and Community Outreach Commission of our Parish Council is seeking volunteers to act as greeters at two doors of the Church, welcoming parishioners and guests, extending a hand and greeting people as they enter for Mass. Volunteers would share a welcoming smile, a handshake, or a greeting and assistance as needed, as people come into our church. If you are interested in helping with this new ministry, please leave your name and phone number, as well as the Mass you prefer, with the office or by calling Joe Healy at With enough volunteers we could each be called to serve once a month or less. Lenox Food Pantry The Lenox Food Pantry could use our help in stocking the pantry shelves. There are many families in need of a little bit of extra help and the Lenox Food Pantry is a vital part of that help. The pantry s shelves are very bare these days, so please remember to bring a non-perishable food item to church with you whenever possible. As we enter fall and then winter, the need will be increasing. Just a reminder; when making a donation of canned goods etc.. Please be aware of the expiration date printed on the item. St. Ann s cannot bring the item to the pantry if the date has come and gone, nor can the pantry give out the item to anyone. Thank you to everyone who has donated in the past!
