Dear Sacred Heart and Our Lady s Community, I am writing on behalf of all of us at Dearborn Academy to let you know that we are so excited to be joining the Newton community this summer. As you will soon learn if you spend any time around the school property when school is in session, we have a generous and loving staff and student body. Our students come to Dearborn because they are trying, as all of us are, to make positive changes in their lives. They are working hard to overcome the challenges that learning disabilities and emotional challenges pose for young people. I am thrilled that they will be able to do this in the lovely and spacious school and gymnasium on Washington Street. Our summer school program will run from 6/29-8/11, and our school year begins on 9/5. I look forward to offering an open house for you to come see the newly renovated building, and am working with Mike Bliss to schedule this event. You are also welcome to contact me directly, at raltepeter@dearbornacademy.org or to ask any question you may have about our school and our move to Newton. Visit our website to learn more about our school, I look forward to meeting many of you. Warmly, Rebecca Altepeter Head of School, Dearborn Academy 5

Have a Blessed and Restful Summer! ~ Michelle Solomon, Director of Religious Ed Special Collection This week s second collection for Catholic Relief Services supports emergency relief, human development, and peace initiatives in countries around the world. The funds from this Collection provide food to the hungry, services for victims of human trafficking, support to displaced refugees, and show Christ s love and respect to all people. The collection funds the ministries of six Catholic Church organizations: Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), Migration and Refugee Services (MRS), the Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development, the Secretariat of Cultural Diversity in the Church, and the Holy Father s Relief Fund. For more information, please visit crscollection. Do You Know You Can Give to Sacred Heart Online? We are asking all parishioners to consider using this method in addition to or instead of the traditional donations of cash or envelopes in the weekly collections for better budgeting, privacy, and security. Plus, there is the green bonus of reduced use of paper. Benefits for parishioners: * No need to bring cash to church or to write checks and remember to bring them to Mass * Secure web interface allows you to set up any amount of donation and control exact timing in the privacy of your home at any time * Allows you to maintain your support of Sacred Heart, even if you are unable to attend Mass * Provides an instant historical overview of your donations ideal for tax record keeping Benefits for Sacred Heart: * Provides a better forecast of offertory giving * Reduces volatility of offertory collection due to weather, holidays, etc. * Reduces concerns regarding protection of sensitive data * Reduces costs and complexity of handling cash and checks To get started, please click on the ParishPay link for Sacred Heart at

Seventh Sunday of Easter In today s readings from the Acts of the Apostles and the Gospel of John, the Church reminds us how important prayer is in the life of a disciple. First we hear of the scene in the upper room, where all the Apostles gathered with Mary, the Mother of Jesus to devote themselves to prayer. Then in the Gospel, we hear Jesus in prayer to his Father for us! Consider the effect prayer had on Jesus, Mary and the disciples! Pray for the grace to develop a daily habit of prayer and when you do see how your life will change. birthday featuring performances by the U.S. Navy Band, the Boston City Singers, a ceremonial cake to feed 1000, and a flyover by the U.S. Navy.
