4 Senior Ministry Congregation Care New Senior Ministry Team: Prime Time Ministries Meets January 22 at 3pm in Lounge A new Senior Ministry team is now being formed with the name of Prime Time Ministries. So far, team members are Nick Setzer, Celia Hollar, Marlene Epps. If you would like to be a team member, please contact one of the team members, the church office or Pastor Gary. Prime Time Ministries team will meet on January 22 at 3pm in the lounge. They will plan activities for seniors throughout the year. The ministry will provide a gathering place for seniors including a meal and event. Using input received from participants at the Senior Lunch in November, speakers will be sought who will provide community, medical, and legal information. In addition, the vision for this ministry includes making a Parish Nurse available to the members of St. Mark s, and also to the wider community on, at least, a monthly basis for little or no charge. Prime Time Ministries funding comes from the $5,000 Michael Peeler Fund grant St. Mark s received in September. Currently, the next scheduled event is Friday, February 15, at noon in the Family Life Center. The Michael Peeler Fund was established in 1955 under the will of Michael Peeler, a Salisbury businessman and member of St. John s, Salisbury. The income gifted to the NC Synod was to be used by the synod each year wherever it is needed most for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. New GrubLuv Ministry for Food Delivery Meets February 17 at 9:40am The Congregation Care team is in the process of implementing a food delivery service to some seniors of our congregation who have a need. Provided through The Corner Table, two frozen meals per person will be delivered to homes about once a week. A task group will be formed to implement and oversee this ministry. Volunteers will pick up frozen meals at The Corner Table and distribute them. If you would like to join the team, the GrubLuv task group is scheduled for February 17 at 9:40am. Please contact the church office if you know of someone you would like to recommend to receive meals. 6 Local Outreach Bring Food Donations on Sunday, January 20 for ECCCM and St. Mark s Pantry During the month of November, 42 pounds of food was delivered to ECCCM by Rudy & Exie Little. Four bags of groceries were given out to local families in need by the church office. The third Sunday of the month (December 16) is the designated Sunday when St. Mark s asks for non-perishable donations for the food pantries. Please place donations in the bin at the Parish Hall entrance to the sanctuary. You Are Invited to Sponsor the Altar Flowers in 2019 Altar flowers are a way to worship God, for they are always first and foremost given to God s glory. They also assist us in worship in beautifying our worship space. Altar flowers are also a way to honor or memorialize someone special. Certainly, honoring or remembering birthdays and anniversaries are appropriate, but there is so much more. Here are some suggestions. Consider honoring or memorializing someone in the church who has given of themselves and made a difference in the church or the community. Just to name a few: they could be those who are upfront, as well as those behind the scenes; those making preparation in the kitchen; the ones that set up the for special events and services; honoring a person for their valiant fight against a disease can show your love and care for them. The cost is $54. Feel free to share the costs of altar flowers. Two or more persons or groups may share flowers on any given occasion and therefore split the cost. To sign up, please contact the church office (lisa@smarklc.org or ) Altar Flower Calendar Jan 6 Jan 13 Jan 20 Jan 27 Feb 3 Feb 10 Feb 17 Feb 24 Mar 3 Mar 10 Mar 17 Mar 24 Mar 31 Apr 7 Apr 14 Apr 21 Apr 28 May 5 May 12 May 19 May 26 Jun 2 Jun 9 Jun 16 Jun 23 Jun 30 Jul 7 Jul 14 Jul 21 Jul 28 Aug 4 Aug 11 Aug 18 Aug 25 Sep 1 Sep 8 Sep 15 Sep 22 Sep 29 Oct 6 Oct 13 Oct 20 Oct 27 Nov 3 Reserved Nov 10 Nov 17 Nov 24 Dec 1 Dec 8 Dec 15 Dec 22 Dec 29 6
