Frank!! Please join us in the parish hall after all Masses this weekend for cake and coffee to celebrate Fr. Frank s birthday!! Fr. Frank will be attending the mandated workshop from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon. Please Note: All Masses this week will be held at 9 am. We are grateful to Fr. David Dormer who has chosen to do a 9:00 am Mass for our church Monday thru Friday & to cover for funerals & real emergencies only. There will be no confessions this week. Fr. Dormer is also covering for Holy Angels in Kulpmont. In case of a real emergency after office hours, call Chrissy Seidel, our secretary at (570) & she will try to get in touch with Fr. Dormer. 3 The Confirmation meeting scheduled for Wed., Oct. 18 th has been changed to Wed., Nov. 8 th at 6:30 pm in the hall. All totaled, donations in the individual donation envelopes amounted to $298. That is an awesome expression of support. The pantry board of directors and our volunteers join me in thanking you and all at Our s Lady Church for your generosity. Diocesan Women s Conference October 14, 2017 Women of the Diocese of Harrisburg, please mark your calendar for the 3 rd Annual Diocesan Women s Conference, Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Bishop McDevitt High School. Conference information, including Online Registration, is currently available at Registration brochures for paper registration are also available at parishes and online. CLERGY APPRECIATION DINNER This year s clergy appreciation dinner will take place on Wednesday, October 18 th at Masser s Banquet Hall. The doors will open at 6 pm and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. Tickets are available at the parish office. Seating is limited. Mount Carmel Knights of Columbus- Ladies Auxiliary will hold their famous and delicious roast beef dinner on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 11:00AM until sold out. Dinner includes salad, entree and dessert. Everyone is invited stop by the club and enjoy this fantastic meal and the company of family and friends. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Our Lady of Victory #588 Will be celebrating Catholic Daughters Sunday October 15 th. The day will include Mass at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church & luncheon with a short meeting after. All ladies are invited to attend this special day and become a part of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The St. Vincent de Paul Society will have their monthly Loose Change Collection after all Masses this weekend. The St. Vincent de Paul Society will have their monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 10 th in the parish hall. Maturing in the Knowledge of Your Faith Program: All adults & high school students are invited to attend this new & exciting program to mature in the knowledge & practice of our Catholic faith. Meetings are on Sundays at 5:00 pm in the hall beginning on Sunday, October 15 th. The program includes the use of audio visuals such as PowerPoint presentations & videos!

5 Our Lady s Festival Committee is sponsoring a Pork & Sauerkraut Dinner on Sunday, October 29 th from 11 am to 1 pm in the parish hall. Dinner includes: pork & sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, apple sauce, bread & butter, dessert & drink. Cost: Adults $8.00 & Children $4.00 Desserts are needed. Please drop them off at the parish hall on Sunday morning, Thank you for your support. This is the Lord s doing and it is amazing in our eyes. Being chosen to serve as a priest or in the consecrated life is an amazing work of the Lord. Ask the Holy Spirit and our Blessed Mother to help you recognize and be faithful to your vocation. Parish Pastoral Council Meeting Report from 9/27/17: The Parish Pastoral Council met on Sept. 27, 2017 at 6:30 pm in the hall. Present were Fr. Frank, Anne Altman, Barry & Shirley Gilbert, Rita Buhay, Walter Janusky, Joe Murray, Barbara & Fred Persing. Excused were Deacon McCarthy & Ron Corona. The meeting began with prophetic meditation and a prayer. The last meeting was reviewed. Fr. Frank reported on the upcoming Fatima celebration at all the Masses on Oct. 14 th & 15 th ; the growth of the Charismatic Prayer Meeting; a review of the recent repairs was discussed including the Collier coating of the parking lot and the B & B concrete work. Fr. Frank indicated the paint peeling from the church ceiling. Fred suggested attaching plastic if possible. Fr. Frank thanked those who spruced up things around the property which included Tom & Sandy Rusnak, Mary & Lew Snyder, Frank Lawski (cleaning the sign for the bell by the rectory) & Elaine Polinski. This includes the wreaths on the doors, the power cleaning of the brick wall in the backyard, painting the signs, putting up a new flag with directed light, planting flowers, etc. Fr. Frank is still looking into padding for the handicap pews. Shirley suggested a small banister off the side of the sanctuary to help those serving at the altar who have trouble with steps. Fred suggested we look at bundling for our phone, tv & computer service. Shirley indicated the need for a new sacrarium in the sacristy and the need to place a copy of the Rite of Confession prayers in the confessional to help people with their confessions. The next meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 15 th at 6:30 pm in the hall.

Carmel's Parish Hall. Classes are on Sunday for grades 6 thru 8th and on Monday for grades 1 thru 5. Classes are from 5:45 to 7:00 P.M. NEWCOMERS: Welcome: Please register in the parish office Monday thru Friday. *If you are moving out of the parish please notify the office concerning your move. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Infant Baptism is celebrated the first and last Sunday of each month. Parents are required to participate in a preparatory session prior to having your baby Baptized. Church law dictates specific guidelines. Please call the parish office for specific information and to arrange an appointment to begin the process. SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY In order to facilitate marriage preparation Diocesan policy requires that preparation begins 9 to 12 months prior to the date of the intended wedding. Please be sure to check with the Church prior to making all other wedding plans. The initial contact with the parish will assign a mentor couple who will work with you in preparing for marriage. SACRAMENT OF THE SICK Please call the parish office anytime to request the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. Father Karwacki and our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will take Holy Communion each month on First Friday. Please call if you or a family member desires to be added to the monthly Communion list. BRINGING THE BREAD AND WINE TO THE ALTAR If you have scheduled a Mass for your loved one and you wish to bring up the bread, wine and collection YOU MUST SPEAK TO THE USHERS BEFORE MASS and tell them you wish to do so, otherwise the ushers will bring up the gifts or someone else will.
