1 HOLY CROSS CHURCH NEWSLETTER 220 Browertown Road Woodland Park, New Jersey 07424; Phone Web Site: & ISSUE YEARS OF SERVICE NOV. DEC Dear Friends, enjoy recent pictures showing the life of our parish.

2 FROM PASTOR S DESK PICTURES: #1 Blessing of Pets took place on Sunday October 5, Thank you to all those who brought their pets for special blessings in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. Picture #2 Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Christopher Pomante On Friday October 10, 2014 the Sacrament of Marriage took place at Holy Cross Church between: Bride, Emily Elizabeth Gaydos and Groom Christopher Brian Pomante. Proud parents of the Bride were Deacon David and Laurie Gaydos; Proud Parents of the Groom were George and Patricia Pomante; Maid/Man of Honor: Bethany Squillante/Scott Gaydos; Best Man Mark Pisco. Marriage is a great mystery St. Paul says that reflects Jesus s unconditional and perpetual love for the members of His church. To that mystery each married couple is called - to love each other in happy moments and in any time of challenge, unconditionally. Marriage is a little bit crazy contract it is unconditional promise not knowing what the future brings, having trust and faith in Christ s love and support of Christian community. In God s eyes, marriage is very important foundation of our society. We see marriage at the beginning of creation, at the beginning of Jesus ministry and on last pages of the bible as the vision of eternal life. Picture #3, #4 On Saturday October 18, 2014 we hosted a BEEFSTEAK DINNER provided by Giresi s Caterers from Lodi with an ENTERTAINMENT by Bobby Valli who sung Frankie Valli Jersey Legend We thank Dominick Bucci for all efforts he did wo organize this event. Rev. Bernard J. Nowicki Bishop of the central Diocese PNCC Fr. Joseph R. Cyman, Pastor The Sacrament of Confirmation is a very important step in your youth s religious education. Confirmation is the sacrament through which we receive gifts of the Holy Spirit to make us soldiers of Christ, ready to profess our faith in word and deed. The minister of confirmation is the bishop. The bishop confirms by laying of hands on the person to be confirmed and anointing the forehead in the form of the cross with Holy Chrism. The bishop says: I sign you with the sign of the cross and I confirm you with the Chrism of Salvation in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Catechism). The confirmation imprints on our soul sacramental character, which entitles us to strength needed to show our faith in word and deed. The Sacrament of Confirmation is the completion of baptism, because we are strengthen to live a Christian life within the Church and defend its truths. Cyman, Pastor Deacon David Gaydos / Deacon William Gaydos SUNDAY MASSES 9:00 A.M. & 11:00 A.M. (regular schedule) WEEKDAY MASSES 7:30 pm (check bulletin) Thursday 7:15 pm "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?" Matthew 25:44 INTRODUCTION My Friends, the liturgical year is a rich cycle of beginnings and endings. As we conclude this liturgical year, we look again to the future, anticipating Christ s return in glory at the end of time. Our focus is on Christ s Kingship, an ancient image that is tempered by the image of the shepherd. God, and God in Christ, is tender and loving, yet judging and separating. The King -- the Son of Man -- identifies with the least of us. Scripture readings: Ezek 34:11-12, God is a tender shepherd Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want 1 Cor 15:20-26,28 All shall be brought to life through the Son of God Mt 25:31-46 The Son of Man identifies with the least of us. LECTORS SERVING TODAY 9:00 AM Richard Daum 11:00 AM Jason Cabrejos SHOPPING CERTIFICATES. We thank all those who participate and who run this wonderful project.
