Helping Hands will be hosting a reception following the Mass. If you know Maria, a long-time parishioner, please plan on attending her Mass. The Sunday Sacristans were let go after New Years. I want to thank Gavin, Mark and Jackson for their years of service in this important ministry. The Eucharistic Ministers are now taking over the responsibility of cleaning and setting up for the next Mass. Hard to believe that Ash Wednesday is less than a month away (March 1 st ). Masses on Ash Wednesday will be at 9am (School Mass), 6pm, and 7:30pm in Spanish. There will also be a brief Prayer Services at 12:15 for those who wish to receive Ashes. Since Fr. Juan Manuel s day off is Friday, we will not be having a bilingual Stations of the Cross like we had the past couple of years. We will also discontinue our Soup Suppers as well. English Stations will be at 6pm and Spanish Stations will be at 7:30pm.

4 The Feast of St. Blaise was last Friday. Along with this Feast is the traditional Blessing of the Throats. We will have blessing of the throats at all Masses this weekend. February is the Month of the Sick. It commemorates the month that the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette in Lourdes, France, in The Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated next weekend at all Masses Please get in touch with Erin at the Rectory regarding Monthly Envelopes and Credit Card donations if you need to update your information. Father Brian Archdiocesan Annual Appeal 2017 Dear Friends, The Church has always depended on the sacrifices of its members to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, educate our youth, and care for the elderly. The Archdiocesan Annual Appeal is an important way for each of us to contribute to the work of the Church throughout the archdiocese. Through our gifts to the appeal, we truly respond to the needs of the least among us and in turn serve Jesus himself. As your pastor, I am asking you for your generous support to the 2017 Archdiocesan Annual Appeal. The Annual appeal helps fund many ministries and services within our archdiocese. the worthy ministries and services support the work of Christ throughout our Archdiocese in the areas of: Teaching the faith Spreading the faith Celebrating the faith Witnessing the faith As in previous years, each parish is assigned a parish goal. our parish goal for the 2017 Archdiocesan Annual Appeal is $141,409. Our success will not only help the Archdiocese, but also our parish because we intend to use what we receive over our goal to continue to beautify and update our parish facilities. I hope you can be especially generous this year as we show our support for the work of Christ throughout the Archdiocese. 5 RCIA/Adult Education Our Lady of Loretto RCIA Program meets at 7:30 p.m. each Tuesday, upstairs in the Convent. The topic on February 7 is: The Ministry of Christ: The Kingdom of God. All adults are invited to participate. OLL Adult Faith Formation Please join us for our Lenten Series Road to Coronation which we are presenting to registered participants on Wednesdays at 10am in the convent chapel during Lent. Road to Coronation presents a vivid portrait of Jesus the Servant King who welcomed outcasts as family, touched and raised the dead, performed miracles that made astonishing theological statements, and confounded the spiritual authorities of His day. Five days after Jesus entered Jerusalem, the center of religious and political power, His "coronation" took place... on a cross. Vindicated in the resurrection and enthroned in the ascension, Jesus calls us to listen, believe, and follow. The dates for the classes are as follows: 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, & 4/5. From Parish Religious Education The students of our parish will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation over the next few weeks. Please keep them in your prayers as they receive the love and forgiveness of Jesus. THIS WEEK IN CONFIRMATION & YOUTH MINISTRY: Monday, February 6: Middle School classes in the convent, 7-8:30. Thursday, February 9: High School classes in the convent, 7-8:30 & YM Leadership, 7:30-9. Shield the Vulnerable: Each year our religious education programs participate in the US Bishops call to work toward the education and protection of children by presenting Shield the Vulnerable classes to all children registered in our religious education classes. As the primary educators of your children, we recognize and affirm your rights to know more about these classes and to opt out of them, if you prefer. This year s 7th, 8th & highschool presentations will take place on February 6, 13 & 9 respectively and will cover the topics of bullying (7 th grade), online safety (8 th grade), and dating and relationships (high school.) CYO Track Mark your Calendars! CYO track registration for grades 3-8 is fast approaching! Registration will run from Feb. 15 March 1. Practices will be held twice a week beginning in mid-march. Murió en 1617 y fue canonizada en 1671, diez años después de la primera fundación inglesa en lo que hoy son Estados Unidos de América. Esta santa americana es acompañada por otros santos como san Felipe de Jesús (mexicano) canonizado en 1862 y Madre Francisca Cabrini (italoestadounidense y la primera santa de EE. UU.) canonizada en Oficialmente hay 60 santos y 77 beatos que nacieron o trabajaron en América. La mayoría de estos son 50 mexicanos, 33 brasileños, 12 canadienses, nueve estadounidenses, ocho colombianos, siete peruanos, tres argentinos y tres chilenos. Guatemala, Cuba, República Dominicana, Uruguay y Venezuela tienen un santo(a) cada uno. Estados Unidos y Canadá comparten siete mártires. La mayoría de los santos o santas del continente americano fueron beatificados o canonizados durante los últimos 100 años. Sólo ocho de ellos fueron canonizados durante los últimos ocho años. No todos estos santos nacieron en América, pero sí dedicaron su vida a evangelizarla. 7 Queridos amigos, Algunas probabilidades y extremos: María Cresine tendrá una Misa conmemorativa para ella el martes, 28 de febrero, a las 11 am. Las Manos Auxiliares recibirán una recepción después de la Misa. Si conoce a María, una parroquiana de largo tiempo, por favor planee asistir a su Misa. Los Sacristanes del domingo fueron dejados ir después de Año Nuevo. Quiero agradecer a Gavin, Mark y Jackson por sus años de servicio en este importante ministerio. Los Ministros Eucarísticos están asumiendo la responsabilidad de la limpieza y la preparación para la próxima misa. Difícil de creer que el Miércoles de Ceniza es menos de un mes de distancia (1 de marzo). Las misas del Miércoles de Ceniza serán a las 9 am (Misa Escolar), 6 pm, y 7:30 pm en español. También habrá un breve Servicio de Oración a las 12:15 para aquellos que deseen recibir Ashes. Desde que el P. El día de descanso de Juan Manuel es el viernes, no tendremos una Estación de la Cruz bilingüe como la que tuvimos en los últimos dos años. También interrumpiremos nuestras Soup Suppers también. Las estaciones de inglés serán a las 6 pm y las estaciones españolas serán a las 7:30 pm. La fiesta de St. Blaise fue el viernes pasado. Junto con esta Fiesta es la tradicional Bendición de las Gargantas. Vamos a tener la bendición de las gargantas en todas las misas este fin de semana. Febrero es el mes de los enfermos.
