3 WELCOME TO WORSHIP AT CALVARY! We are glad to have you with us today for worship. Please stop by our Welcome Table in the Chalice Room for more information about our church family and involvement opportunities in our ministry. The restrooms and nursery are located in the Christian Education wing through the sanctuary doors to your right. Just follow the signage. DURING TODAY S WORSHIP Large-print bulletins are available at the entrances. Individual listening devices for improved sound are also available from ushers. If your infant or child needs care or extra attention during the worship service you may leave the Sanctuary and return as you wish. Rocking chairs are available at the back of the Sanctuary. Our Church Nursery is staffed during worship and fellowship time. Children s packets containing quiet activities are available in baskets located at the back of the Sanctuary. Burgundy fellowship registers are passed for you to sign, so that we might know you are here; all worshipers have an opportunity to provide updated information and to greet one another by name following the service. Please silence all electronic devices when in the Sanctuary. IF YOU ARE NEW TO CALVARY We invite you to stop by fellowship hour after worship for refreshments, conversation, and information about church programs and volunteer opportunities. Parking, several professional offices make their parking lots available to church members on Sunday mornings. Feel free to take an available space at the following locations, and thank these neighbors when you have the chance: Rose Medical Associates the lot runs between Klondyke Avenue and School Street, parallel to South Seventh; Northwood Realty near the corner of South Seventh and School (please do not park in their reserved spaces); Bonya, Gazza & DeGory lot on the left on School, near the light at South Sixth. (That office was once Calvary s manse.) The Indiana Borough Parking Garage is located at 650 Water Street. TODAY IS PENTECOST Fifty days after Christ s resurrection, the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples on the day of Pentecost. Pentecost was an established Jewish festival also known as the Feast of Weeks, which drew people from many nations back to Jerusalem (Lev. 23:15-21; Deut. 16:16). Pentecost symbolizes a new beginning. It celebrates the unleashing of the Holy Spirit empowering of the church to reach the world with the gospel of God s love. In celebrating Pentecost, the church expresses its gratitude for the faithfulness of Christ in fulfilling his promise to send another counselor (John 14:16); celebrates the work of the Spirit in renewing all of creation; professes its confidence and security in knowing the Spirit s power is available for its mission and ministry. The traditional color for Pentecost is red, after the flames described in Acts 2:3. 7

Participating in the concert are members of the Indiana Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, (including our own Roberta Jones) and other local musicians. All are invited. 8

9 ANNOUNCEMENTS GOD'S KIDS IN ACTION, JUNE 12 JUNE 16, 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. The theme this summer is superheros! To register a child's attendance, please go to Calvary's web page and click on Upcoming Events, scroll down to God's Kids in Action where you will find a link to the registration site. Spaces for each age group is limited and the registration deadline is Wednesday, June 7, so don t delay! Also, we are still looking for an additional volunteer to assist in the craft area. Please contact Tracee Denlinger at dce@calvarychurchpa.com if you are available to lend a hand. SATURDAY NITE CLUB PICNIC will be June 17 at Bobby Jones farm. Arrive anytime, we'll eat around 4:00 p.m. Bring a covered dish and a chair. Meat and beverage are furnished. Join us for good food and fellowship. FAMILY PROMISE (FP) PROJECT Please stop by the Mission Table and pick up a Beyond Shelter pamphlet to find out how you can assist FP with providing non-food items at a very low cost for past and present FP participants as well as families with a need in the community at large. ICCAP PRODUCT OF THE MONTH We are still collecting May products today including coffee, teabags, powdered cold drink mixes, instant hot chocolate, sugar and sweeteners, canned milk and non-refrigerated coffee creamers or jarred powdered creamer and Tang powdered breakfast drink. At the same time, we are beginning our June collection which includes anything fruity such as canned fruits and juices, canned cranberries, applesauce (traditional and flavored), dried fruits (raisins, cranberries, cherries, fruit and nut mixtures). CHEVY CHASE COMMUNITY CENTER, INC. (CCCC) Please stop by the Mission Table to volunteer for the painting days at CCCC, June 29 and 30. It s close and is easy work and may not take much or any time at all on the second day. Lunch will be provided for volunteers. PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE (PDA) The Mission and Outreach Committee will begin to collect items for Hygiene Kits to be distributed nationally and internationally to areas affected by natural disasters. Hygiene Kits include: hand towels (16 x 28 ), wash cloths, wide tooth combs, nail clippers, bars of soap (in wrappers), Band-Aids and tooth brushes (to be supplied by a local dentist). Our goal is to assemble 50 kits by the end of July. A sample kit and item lists are available on the Mission Table. Collection bins are also located on the Mission Table. CHAUTAUQUA TRIP There are still some openings for the one-day Chautauqua bus trip scheduled for Sunday, July 9 sponsored by the Saturday Nite Club.
