1 October 15, th Sunday in Ordinary Time OUR LADY OF FATIMA In April of 2015, along with 40 other pilgrims, I had the immense privilege of visiting the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal, participating in the nightly procession and praying the rosary. We then went on to walk 65 miles on the El Camino to the great cathedral of St James in Santiago de Compostela. This is the 100 th anniversary of the appearance of Our Lady of the Rosary to the three children Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucia as they took their flocks to pasture on the country side of Fatima. Mary spoke to the children: I have come to ask you to come here for six months on the 13 th day of the month at this same hour. Then in the sixth month on October 13 th, the great Miracle of the Sun known as the dancing of the sun took place. Mary said on that day: I want to tell you that a chapel is to be built here in my honor. I am the Lady of the Rosary. Continue always to pray the rosary every day for peace in the world. Indeed, the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima is holy ground. May we continue to pray the rosary for peace in our world. CMA O God, our loving creator and giver of all good gifts, bless our parish, strengthen our faith and grant us the spirit of Christian stewardship so that we may give generously of our time, talent and treasure to the building of the Kingdom here in our church and throughout the world. We ask that you generously support our diocesan CMA by making your pledge this week. Personally I have increased my giving level to the CMA. If you are able, I ask that you do the same. We are missioned as a parish to serve and help our brothers and sisters throughout diocese. PARISH STEWARDSHIP On the weekend of October 1, we invited your participation in our Faith Formation/Youth Ministry ministries. On the weekend of November 5, we will invite you to participate in one of the liturgical ministries of the parish lector, cantor/choir, altar server, usher/greeter, art and environment, or liturgical coordinator. May you see your commitment to parish stewardship in some fashion not as a burden but as a privileged opportunity to give back to the Lord a portion of the blessings that are yours. We are not just passive observers in the life of our parish; we are to be active participants, good stewards of the giftedness we have given by our loving God. Have a blessed day. The Focus Pregnancy Help center needs diapers and onesies so, please fill a baby gift bag from our bassinette located in the gathering area. We are grateful for your support of this worthy fund raiser. World Mission Sunday Next week, we will celebrate World Mission Sunday. Each year, the entire Church is invited to support the young mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe, where priests, religious and lay leaders serve some of the poorest of the poor. With prayerful best wishes, I am Faithfully in Christ, Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York Teaching Mass In honor of the 150 th anniversary of the Diocese of Rochester, our beloved Bishop Matano has declared a special liturgical year of the Eucharist. It is a year in which he urges us to deepen your personal devotion to Our Lord in the Eucharist. To facilitate this, Church of the Holy Spirit will offer a series of teaching masses that will systematically explain the different parts of the mass, their history, meaning, and symbolism. The Masses will be held on Monday at 7:00pm. At 7:00pm there will be a brief teaching followed by mass at 7:15. Following the celebration of the Eucharist will be a moment of reflection and discussion as a group. Please consider joining us for this prayerful event meant to foster love and devotion for the Eucharist, which is the source and summit of our faith. October 16 will focus on the Preparation of gifts October 23 & October 30 will focus on the Liturgy of the Eucharist November 6 will focus on communion November 13 will focus on the concluding rites Thank You From The Knights Of Columbus! The Church of the Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus Council would like to thank all those who supported and attended our Chicken Bar-B-Q fundraiser on Sept. 9th. It was a great success and we look forward to hosting it again next year. I pray that you enjoyed it as much as we did. Paul J. Cuddy Assembly Fruit Sale The Cuddy Assembly of Webster will be holding a Fruit Sale over the next 2 weekends. Available for purchase are navel oranges, pink grapefruit and a mixed navels & grapefruit option. The last day of the sale will be October 22nd. Order sheets and information/price sheets are in the gathering area. Fruit will be available for pick-up on Saturday, November 18th between 12 noon and 2pm. For those that cannot pick up, we ll deliver. Any questions can be directed to John Veloski at Knights of Columbus Baked Ziti Pasta Dinner The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Baked Ziti Pasta Dinner on November 11th, from 5:30 pm till 7:30 pm, in the Parish Hall. Dinner will be a baked ziti pasta, with cheeses, homemade marinara sauce and meatballs. A salad, bread and drinks are also included. Gluten Free is available. Eat-in or take out. The cost is $10 for ages 13 and older ($11 at the door) and $5 for ages Under age 5 are free. Maximum family cost will be $30. 50/50 drawing and wine raffle. The funds raised will be used to support a local Seminarian in his education towards the priesthood. The Knights will be selling tickets after each Mass beginning October 28th through November 5th. 3 Youth Group The Youth Group would like to extend a huge thank you to the anonymous donor who bought a 60inch flat screen TV for the new Youth Room. The TV will be used for Youth Group meetings for presentations and videos, as well as special events like movie and game nights. Thank you so much for the support of our Youth Group! The Youth Group will be going on a Haunted Hay Ride Friday October 20 th at 7:00pm at the Haunted Hayrides of Greater Rochester. All youth from 6 th grade and up are invited feel free to invite family and friends. Tickets are $22. To sign up, please go to our Parish Website under Youth Group Event Registration. The Next Youth Group meeting is Monday October 23 rd. Important Upcoming Dates First Reconciliation and Communion Classes begin on Sunday October 22 nd after the 11:00am mass.
