3 Sheil Leadership Council The Sheil Leadership Council invites students and associates to submit applications to serve on the SLC for the school year. The Leadership Council arose from the Transformation process that Sheil undertook several years ago as an advisory body to help us strengthen our community through faith and fellowship. The SLC meets monthly to serve Sheil through engaging and listening to community needs, prayer and reflection on these needs, and advising or proposing steps to better satisfy these needs. The recent Coffee & Donuts Sundays, the fall Ministry Fair, the Rides for Students at Christmas break, and the Black History Month liturgical celebration are examples of SLC activity at Sheil. We will accept applications through Sunday May 6 and all are invited to apply, whether undergrad or grad student, new or long-standing associates. You can apply through the on-line application or there are printed applications available in the office. Christ the Teacher Seminars Open to ALL Faith and Reason: Friends, Foes, or Partners? Deacon (soon to be Fr.) Robert Carlton facilitates a 3 week seminar on the relationship between faith and reason, why some people see them in conflict and how the Catholic Church has often celebrated the relationship between them. Seminar meets on Sunday evenings from 7-8:30 pm on May 6, 13 and June 3. Students are free; Associates of Sheil or Northwestern are $5; All others are $25 Register Today at Open to ALL Theology of the Body in Real Life: Dating, Engagement, Marriage, and Beyond Sheil Associates and young adults, Kelsey and Anthony Chun, facilitate this seminar on some of the principles of Theology of the Body as applied to the real lives of both singles and couples. Because of the nature of the conversation, some sessions may be more appropriate than others for some, but participants are encouraged to go to all 4 sessions. Catholic Scholars are required to attend all 4 sessions. 4 Catholic Students Association (CaSA) Upcoming Event Gaudete et Exsultate 5/3 Pope Francis released his new Apostolic Exhortation, Gaudete et exsultate (Rejoice and be glad), a document that is a challenge to all Christians and intends to repropose the call to holiness in a practical way for our time. It s been widely covered in the news with a wide range of reactions. We wanted to encourage you to read the document for yourself and discover how it applies to your own life. We look forward to discussing it at upcoming events! CaSA meets regularly on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. We invite all undergrads to join us. Newcomers are always welcome!
