2 HOLY TRINITY PARISH NOVEMBER 4, 2018 LIGONIER, PA Flowers on the altar this weekend were donated in loving memory of Fred Ross requested by wife, Sylvia Ross. Children's Liturgy of the Word Advent 2018 Children's Liturgy of the Word, where Sunday readings are geared especially for children, will be offered at the 11:00 Mass every Sunday in Advent. No pre-registration is required. All children ages 4-11 are encouraged to attend. Just before the Liturgy of the Word begins for the assembly, children are invited to go with weekly leaders from the church to the Parish Library. During this special time, the volunteer teacher leads the children through prayers, songs and readings that are simplified for children. The children will also be invited to participate in the Offertory by carrying the gifts to the altar with their teachers. Afterwards, they will return to their families. Parents, if you wish, may accompany your child. The Sundays of Advent include: December 2, 9, 16, 23. Holy Trinity Christian Mothers Bake Sale Holy Trinity Christian Mothers will be having a bake sale after all the Masses the weekend of November 17 & 18. In addition to quality baked items, some gluten-free items and Hostess gifts will be available. Any items donated by any parishioners to help the Christian Mothers would be greatly appreciated! 3 CHRISTIAN MOTHERS COLLECTS for BLACKBURN CENTER During November, THANKSGIVING MONTH, please help those who are less fortunate at the BLACKBURN CENTER AGAINST DOMESTIC & SEXUAL VIOLENCE. Their needs are MANY (only NEW items please): Quart and two gallon size Ziploc bags; Kitchen towels & Dishcloths; Bath & Hand towels & Wash cloths; Hairs brushes; Tool kits; Alarm clocks; Brooms & dust pans; Mops; Extension cords; Flashlights; Duffel bags; Toddler training toothpaste; Boys PJ s size 4 & 5; Girls PJ s (no nightgowns please) size 5 thru 14; Playdoh brand; Gasoline cards (Get Go & Sheetz); Gift Cards (Giant Eagle, Shop N Save, Walmart, & Target). A Collection Basket is in the Narthex, but Gift Cards should be dropped off at Ligonier Sweet Shop/Path Finder Photo on the Diamond. Masses may be turned in and placed in the following ways: 1. Intentions may be dropped off at the rectory Monday through Wednesday or on Friday from 8:30 AM until 3:00 PM 2. Intentions may be mailed to the rectory. 3. Intentions may be placed in the collection basket during weekend Masses. Please use a separate form for each Mass you are requesting. Place all request forms in one envelope with one check. The stipend for each Mass is $10. Mass requests will be accepted for Christmas, Easter, Mother s Day, Father s Day, and All Soul s Day. If you are placing your request in the collection basket, please be sure that it is marked clearly with 2019 Mass Requests to avoid confusion. ALL MASS INTENTION REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE PARISH OFFICE BY 8:30 AM ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9. After the checks are verified, the requests will be randomly selected one by one and the masses will be scheduled in the order that they are pulled. Please be sure to put two alternate dates and times in case your first choice has already been taken. After the scheduling is completed, a receipt listing the dates and the times your intentions were scheduled will be available in the Narthex. In order to be fair to all parishioners, the office will not schedule 2019 Masses over the phone, or without payment until after December 3, At this time there is no limit to the number of mass requests per soul. If there are ANY questions, or if you need assistance filling out the form which appears below, PLEASE feel free to call or stop by the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday and someone will gladly assist you. 4 Nativity Display This year Holy Trinity will again participate in The Christmas Story and Nativity Display at Heritage United Methodist Church on the Diamond December 1 and 2. If you wish to display a nativity, a certain procedure must be followed. Registration forms and waiver of liability forms are available at the Holy Trinity church office and on the table in the Narthex. Registration ends Monday, November 26. Only 1 nativity per family will be accepted. Brook is looking forward to becoming an Eagle Scout. The renovation in the cemetery was his Eagle Scout Project. This Sunday, November 4, at 1:30 PM there will be a blessing of this project and prayers for the deceased. You are encouraged to join us in the blessing and our prayers for those who are buried in St. Ann s Cemetery. The reception to follow at Holy Trinity Church - in the Atrium around 2:30 PM. Father John Foriska Bishop Malesic has called for a second collection to be taken in all parishes of the Diocese of Greensburg the weekend of November to help individuals and families recover from the flooding that hit areas in the Greensburg Diocese on September 10, The proceeds from the collection will first go to Catholic Charities relief efforts in that community, and any remaining contributions will be placed in a Diocesan Disaster Fund to help meet future needs. Over 10 homes were destroyed and many others were significantly damaged as a result of the storm.
