2 June 10, 2018 Dear Parishioners, Thank you, all, for your cooperation with the summer Mass schedule, it is very much appreciated. For anyone who might be coming to the Extraordinary Form Mass for the first time, we are working on providing some pointers and resources to help you feel more comfortable as you attend this Mass and to better understand how to participate. If you re giving it a try for the first time, thanks for doing so! Please don t hesitate to ask any questions you might have! Demolition began this week in Pangborn Hall, the Msgr. Passarelli Room, and the kitchen. On Monday, June 11, you ll see even more activity in the parking lot, including (I think) demolition of the chain-link fence. As I mentioned at Mass, next Saturday and Sunday, we will probably have no access to the main parking lot. However, the Clinic across Wareham alley has offered the use of its parking spaces both right next to the clinic and the spaces immediately adjacent to our Walnut Street parking lot (two rows on either side of the entrance to that part of the lot). Please remember three things: This is only on Saturday and Sunday. Please don t use the shopping center parking spaces. Please save the parking spaces near the clinic for our elderly and handicapped parishioners. As of the printing of this bulletin we still needed to work out a couple more things regarding the golf carts I talked about. Nonetheless, the plan is to have one or two carts available, along with a designated driver, to carry anyone for whom the walk to the cry room door is too far or two difficult. I hope to confirm these plans at Mass. Thanks for being such great parishioners! However, the staff will be on the premises and available for the emergencies and urgent needs of parishioners.

An adult with CPR/First aid and who is in compliance with VIRTUS requirements is sought to assist with faith-filled afternoons of homework, snacks, playground, and light housekeeping responsibilities. Your contributions to the poor box are appreciated! Right to Life: -- There's an abortion facility in Hagerstown at 160 W. Washington St, Suite 100, just 3 doors from St. Mary Church, and there's a serious need for adults and children to be there praying for a change of mind of those entering. There's an opportunity for sidewalk counseling if you're comfortable doing that, but first, prayer at the site is very powerful. Volunteers are needed 2 days each week: every Thursday from 9 to 11 AM; every other Tuesday and every other Saturday from 8 to 11 AM. Open Tuesday, June 19; Thursday, June 14, 21, and 28; Saturday, June 16 and 30. We also need another "shift" to stay until the women come out after the abortion so we can provide some help. Car washes will be held in the walnut street parking lot on the following dates: April 28 May 5 June 2,9,16,23 They will start immediately after 830 am Mass and go until about 4pm. 5 Father, Can you explain the Apostolic Blessing that is given in conjunction with the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick? The Apostolic Blessing, or more precisely the Apostolic Pardon, is one of the three parts of the so-called Last Rites given to those that are dying. The Last Rites consist of giving the dying person the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, the Apostolic Pardon, and Holy Viaticum. Viaticum is Latin for with you on the way. It is to the Eucharist given to them before they die, so that they may take Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament, with them on their way to their particular judgement. The Apostolic Pardon is a special blessing given by the priest to the dying which comes in two forms: A.) Through the holy mysteries of our redemption may almighty God release you from all punishments in this life and in the life to come. May He open to you the gates of paradise and welcome you to everlasting life. Amen.; or B.) By the authority which the Apostolic See has given me, I grant you a full pardon and the remission of all your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. According to the Handbook of Indulgences #28 : Priests who minister the sacraments to the Christian faithful who are in a life-and-death situation should not neglect to impart to them the apostolic blessing, with its attached indulgence.
