Twenty-Seventh Sunday in 2 October 7, 2018 A MESSAGE FROM FR JOSEPH Dear Friends, The Scripture readings of this Sunday tell us God created man and woman and established the bond of love that marriage creates between them as husband and wife The Gospel teaches that family life is sacred, that husband and wife are partners with equal rights and that the destruction of the family by divorce will result in the destruction of society Jesus quotes Genesis and says, From the beginning of creation, God made male and female Jesus repeats what the Book of Genesis says, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and join to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh God wishes this bond to be permanent The spouses are invited and challenged to practice the fidelity of their ever-faithful God, honoring their covenant commitment before Him As we enter the Month of October, Month of Respect for Life, we are invited to reflect on and to be advocates for human life and human dignity Every human being shares the same origin, nature, and destiny, even though our features and physiques, skills, interests, tastes, and habits are amazingly diverse Every human being is unique, unrepeatable and irreplaceable Even identical twins have different fingerprints, facial expressions, personalities Never in the history of humankind has there been another you or I, nor will there ever be The most miraculous about human life is that God created us in his own image, that God loves each of us, and that God sent his Only Son to die for each of us Today s second reading tells us: He (Jesus) who consecrates and those who are being consecrated all have one origin Therefore, he is not ashamed to call them brothers Especially, during the month of October, the Church invites us to pray the Rosary We come to the Blessed Virgin Mary, look at her as the model of our Christian life, and imitate her to live and serve God and God s people Let us be faithful to pray the Rosary during this month of October and all the days of our lives May the Blessed Mother protect all the married couples and all children of God from conception to natural death Peace, Joy, and Service in the Lord CHRIST OUR LIFE CONFERENCE Kyra Akpore was able to visit with Jesus and Pope Francis while at the Christ Our Life Conference, last weekend, September 29-30th, in Des Moines Among other things enjoyed were great speakers, beautiful music, in and out of Mass, and a concourse full of Catholic vendors Everyone is encouraged to mark your calendar for the next Christ Our Life Conference, which is scheduled for September 26-27, 2020 Scott Hahn will be one of their speakers Hope to see you there! CONCRETE WORK At SS MARY AND JOSEPH CHURCH Concrete work is almost done After the handrails are made and installed, 10:30 am Sunday Mass will be moved over to Ss Mary and Joseph Church Hopefully, that will be the weekend of October 13-14th, but a Flocknote will be sent to confirm
