Potentates Note: Greetings Nobles, Ladies, and Friends of Tebala: We are now through our first quarter of the year, and a lot has happened in this short time.

2 Potentates Note: Greetings Nobles, Ladies, and Friends of Tebala: We are now through our first quarter of the year, and a lot has happened in this short time. We have been blessed to see many of you at the different functions, but at the same time I miss seeing many others. You help make the difference in many things; I hope to see many more of you at future events. Spring Ceremonial was a hoot! Nobles who have not taken part in the full ceremonial participated along with new nobles. Make sure you get petitions in for the next ceremonial, which will be held July 21, Our Director, Ronnie Sansone, along with the Director Staff promise that this will be one for the record books. When it comes to having fun, and I have no doubt fun will be had by all. If you are one of our nobles who have come in cold, you may also participate, just call in to register. There will also be a ladies luncheon on the day of ceremonial, so let s get the ladies involved. The St. Patrick s Dinner was a blast, with nobles and their families joining in on all the shenanigans. The meal was fantastic, and we had very nice attendance. Lady Kami and I were emceed the contest and games, and enjoyed seeing all of the smiling faces. Thanks to Judy Bowers, Past Queen of Daughters of the Nile, for assisting with our 50/50 Raffle. Easter will have passed by the time you receive this newsletter. Our Memorial service is coming up on April 15. Join us in remembering our distinguished brothers. Parades will soon be starting in full force. Please do us all a favor, I ask that each noble who has the ability to participate to join a club or a unit. Clubs and units are where we truly find our greatest fun, and we do it to help the children and their families. They need your support to help our drivers get the many children to and from our hospitals, and I know they appreciate all you do. Let s embody the principle, You ll Never Walk Alone. May 4 th we have our Crazy Hat Back to the Beach Party, which promises to be a great evening of fun and entertainment. R. W. Bro. Wayne Spooner Speaks at Masonic Membership Day On Saturday, 3/24/18, more than 50 Masons and guests participated in the Masonic Membership Day event at the Freeport Masonic Temple.

The speaker for the day was Right Worshipful Brother Wayne Spooner who currently serves Illinois Freemasonry as our Grand Chaplain and Grand Lodge Membership Committee Chairman.

3 R. W. Bro. Wayne Spooner Speaks at Masonic Membership Day On Saturday, 3/24/18, more than 50 Masons and guests participated in the Masonic Membership Day event at the Freeport Masonic Temple. The event was a partnership between the Scottish Rite Valley of Freeport and the Grand Lodge Membership Committee. The speaker for the day was Right Worshipful Brother Wayne Spooner who currently serves Illinois Freemasonry as our Grand Chaplain and Grand Lodge Membership Committee Chairman. The morning session entitled, "Maximizing and Enjoying a Quality Masonic Membership Experience was attended by Masons and non-masons. We had a thoughtful discussion about our timeless Masonic values and how they absolutely still resonate with good men today. The acknowledged challenge was how to communicate effectively with both Brothers and good men who would be interested in learning more about Illinois Freemasonry. Bro. Spooner shared a tool to help the Brethren have these important conversations. The one page document is called the Masonic Membership Value Exchange - A Conversation Starter ; it is available for download from the Membership Development section of the Grand Loge website, ilmason.org. Throughout the session, we reflected on the Goal of Freemasonry which is to take a good man, make him better, better than he was 6 months ago, and ultimately, to help him become the best version of himself. That passage and the companion request to let s reclaim the message about Illinois Freemasonry and our Gentle Craft really resonated with the audience. After lunch, the Master Masons enjoyed a dedicated Master Mason Workshop to delve deeper into the lessons of the Sublime Degree of Master Mason that provides profound guidance on how to live as a Mason. Also, the Brothers gained a more thorough understanding of the Right of Visitation and best practices to confidently visit other lodges in Illinois and around the world. Next, we discussed the new steps being taken in Illinois Freemasonry to promote our values, connect with Brothers and Prospective members in the digital age, and talk about how we can all help by sharing the information from the day with our local lodges. Overall, a summary theme for the workshop would be Knowing Masonry and Living Masonry which is consistent with the motto, Masons living Masonry in their daily lives." Fraternally, R. W. Bro. 8 Congratulations to the Queen and the Officers Of Alabet Temple No. 31, Daughters of the Nile March 18, 2018 was the time to thank Past Queen, Jenilee Johnson for her second term as Queen as it came to an end. It was also the time to welcome in the newest Queen Joy Aiello-McDonnell, and the newly elected and appointed officers. The Divan and the membership of Tebala Shrine welcome Queen Joy, and look forward to all the wonderful endeavors that are planned for our terms. Tebala Potentate, Jerry Minor Mystic Tie Lodge 187 Oyster Stew and Chili Dinner 101 East Mason Street Polo, IL On March 22, 2018, brother and noble Gary Ackerman and I had the opportunity and honor to attend the Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge 187 annual Oyster Stew and Chili Dinner, located in Polo, Illinois. It was a delicious meal and entertainment was provided. The lodge was chartered on October 6, 1856 by the Grand Lodge of Illinois. Mystic Tie Lodge #187 A.F. & A.M. is part of District 004-N, and they meet on the 1 st Tuesday.
