Photo Bud Durling Forty-two Scottish Rite Masons became Sublime Princes of the Royal Secret at the 148th Spring Reunion of New Hampshire Consistory held on April 21, 2012 at High School North. Two more received the 32 at Reunions in Burlington, VT and Portland, ME over the following weeks. The Spring Reunion started with a performance by the Billy Kottage Jazz Ensemble. The ladies departed for a tour of the Currier Museum of Art while the candidates and members saw the New Hampshire debut of the 19, Brothers of the Trail. This rewritten degree takes place in the 1840 s along the Oregon trail. The degree was directed by Ill Robert W. Lawrie, 33, M.S.A. After the reception of the Deputy, Ill Richard W. Elliot, 33, and comments from the Grand Master of NH, MW and Ill Paul M. Leary, 33, the candidates and members saw an inspiring 31 and 32 presented in a combined format. The 31, Knight Aspirant, directed by Ill Roger J. Pellerin, 33, M.S.A. and Ill Thomas S. Lowe, 33 was performed in the middle of the 32, Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret, which was under the direction of Ill Robert G. Bianchi, 33. 3 Page 3 Volume 2, Issue 3 Valley Members Attend Supreme Council Leadership Conference Over 200 Scottish Rite Masons from 15 states met in Waltham and Lexington, MA on May 4 and 5 for a Leadership Conference put on by the Supreme Council, NMJ. The conference included a team building exercise; breakout sessions; presentations including Scottish Rite in the future, assisting brothers in need, and listening skills; a talk by John Herman, a new-media expert from New Hampshire, on the use of social media. Other speakers included Ill John Wm. McNaughton, 33, Sov. Grand Commander; Ill Richard W. Elliot, 33, Deputy for the State of NH and Grand Treasurer General; and Ill Mark C. Roth, 33, Active for the State of New Hampshire. 6 Page 6 Valley of Scottish Rite News Scottish Rite Appreciation Day members and their ladies joined New Hampshire Consistory s Commander-in-Chief, Ill C. Wayne Libby, Jr., 33, M.S.A. aboard the Isles of Shoals Steamship Co. s M/V Thomas Laighton for this year s Scottish Rite s Appreciation Day event. Held every other year, this year s Appreciation Day was held on Sat., August 11, with a 3-hour dinner cruise that left harbor and traveled out to the Isles of Shoals before returning. The Commander-in-Chief invited all the new 32 Scottish Rite Masons from the Classes of 2011 and 2012 to join the cast and crew members of the five Valleys for cruise which included a Country Barbecue Buffet by Liberty Lane Catering. The degree will follow at 7:30 PM. There will also be entertainment. Then on Saturday, November 3, 2012, all five Valleys will hold a joint reunion at Merrimack Valley High School. Van Dyke for Chapter and Consistory. 200th Supreme Council Annual Meeting confers 33 on 5 from New Hampshire The Scottish Rite Supreme Council for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction conferred the Thirty-third Degree upon 173 Scottish Rite Masons, including five from New Hampshire, at its 200th annual meeting in Cleveland, August The Thirty-third Degree is awarded for outstanding achievement within the fraternity or for significant contributions to others, reflecting credit on Freemasonry. Joseph J. Beaumont, from the Valley of ; Ronald N. Crane, from the Valley of Lancaster-Littleton; Robert G. Hatfield and Alan D. Lugg, from the Valley of Concord; and Nicholas C. Martel, from the Valley of Keene were among those elected for this high honor at last year's meeting in Chicago. The impressive ceremony took place on Tuesday, Aug. 28. 9 Page 9 Volume 2, Issue 3 News from Supreme Council Valley Self-Evaluations Supreme Council has asked Valleys to do a selfevaluation of how they re doing in a number of areas including meeting the needs of their members. You may be receiving a survey asking for your opinion. If you don t receive one, but have thoughts you want to share, send them to the Office of the Secretary. We want to hear them. Last Annual Meeting in 2013 Supreme Council has announced that they will be changing the Annual Meetings with the conferral of the thirty-third degree to every two years, after the August 2013 meeting in Washington, DC. Off years will include meetings for leadership, membership, secretaries and Deputy representatives. 10 Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Meritorious Service Award Recipients Named Inspiration Convenience Enjoyment The New Hampshire Council of Deliberation announced the 2012 recipients of the Meritorious Service Award (M.S.A.) at its Annual Meeting held June 2, The M.S.A. is awarded for meritorious service of a Masonic character, and recipients are selected from nominations by the presiding officers of their Valley. Those selected and their Home Valleys are: Ernest W. Fauteux, Valley of Keene Thomas G. Laberge, Valley of -Dover James M. Triacca, Valley of Concord Bro. Fauteux is a past presiding officer of the Lodge of Perfection and Council, Princes of Jerusalem in Keene. Bro. Laberge is a member of the Valley of -Dover. Bro. Triacca is a past presiding officer of Concord s Council, Princes of Jerusalem and Chapter of Rose Croix. Most recently he was appointed Treasurer and Hospitaler of New Hampshire COD. The Council of Deliberation is the state-wide organization of Scottish Rite made up of the top officers from every body in each of the five Valleys; all past presiding officers, M.S.A. recipients, and 33 Scottish Rite Masons, both Honorary and Active. It governs Scottish Rite in New Hampshire. They will be presented their M.S.A. jewels at the November testimonial dinner honoring newly coroneted 33 recipients. Congratulations to all!
