Grand Knight s Message Brothers and Friends of St. Anne's, It s May and as they say, April showers bring May flowers and from where I sit writing this, the trees are coming back to life and everything is in bloom. I hope you are all planning your summer vacations and outdoor family time. It s a really wonderful time of year. Please don t forget that Mother s Day is on Sunday, May 14th! Our Children s Easter Party was fun. Although attendance was light, the kids all had a fantastic time. They created Easter-themed works of art and had a great time playing with the Service Rabbit, Sandy, brought down by a brother from the Floral Park Council. Our very own Easter Bunny showed up right on time to high five, play and pose for pictures with the children. We ended the day with an Easter Egg Hunt in the yard where the children collected eggs filled with candy and coins. Special thanks to our chairman Anthony Passarella SK, Tim Conroy, Stan Gajewski PGK, John Kolb PGK, Danny Lollo, Tony Gallo SK and Mike Civello PGK for doing a great job with this event. On Tuesday May 2nd, St Anne's will be recognized by Bishop DiMarzio for our outstanding efforts during our 2016 Blood Drive at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston. This is a great honor and I'm looking forward to meeting with the Bishop and accepting well deserved recognition on behalf of you, my brothers. Thank you again for making this event a success year after year! As I mentioned last month, you should have received a letter from the Long Island Chapter with three raffle tickets enclosed. The chapter has changed the way they run the raffle the last two years and will not be sending out the usual twelve-ticket chance book. We ask that you fill them out and return them as soon as possible. The proceeds will benefit Faith in the Future, a very worthwhile charity. In closing, I thank you for supporting all that we do for charity at St.Anne s. As always, I ll see you around the council! Vivat Jesus! Many members owe the council for many years of back dues. In order to maintain your status as a paid up member, please keep your dues current. I will be sending a Third Notice called, Knight Alert, and finally the Intent to Retain form very soon. Once I send the Intent to Retain form to Supreme, the process will begin to suspend those members. Please save us the time and money by paying dues in a timely fashion. They are members 70 years of age and have 25 years of uninterrupted service. Honorary members are members 65 years of age and have 25 years of consecutive service. They pay dues of $15.00 per year. Efron Here & There For those who question the certain habits of those aficionados of the AMBER FLUIDS, bear in mind that His Holiness, retired Pope Benedict XVI, celebrated his 90 th Birthday with German Beer and Pretzels. More pretzels Stanley! On Friday evening, April 21st, 2017, we attended the Annual Memorial Mass for the Deceased Members of the Knights of Columbus and Columbiettes of the Long Island Chapter. Bishop Raymond Chappetto was the main celebrant along with many Chaplains of the various councils of the chapter. Among those remembered were our Deceased Chaplain, Father William Dulaney, Stephen Botten, Joseph Gaughan, Joseph Gormley, George Heath and Gerard Mayer PGK. Our council was represented by our Grand Knight, Lenny Autera and Bob Nealon PGK. We received word that Bill Allen had some trouble manipulating one foot in front of the other resulting in a fall. Keep Bill in your get well prayers. Sister Kathy from Our Lady of Lourdes Food Pantry, is in need of the following items: Grape Jelly, Coffee, Tea, Pudding, Jell-o, Cookies, Crackers, Canned Meats and Evaporated Milk. Help us fill the hampers at the council before during the winter months. Don t come empty-handed. Bring a bag of foodstuff You Got It! We Want It!! They Need It! Pantry at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. When was the last time we, you & me, sponsored a new member to St. Anne s? Think about it and then answer the question yourself. Do you know someone who is nota member and why he isn t a Brother Knight? The answer is probably because No One Ever Asked Me!!! Find Him And Ask Him Today!!!

Evers PGK My Brother Knights The St. Anne s Council Chaplain s Fund was instituted many years ago to aid young men and women preparing for the priesthood and other religious ways of life. Over the years, we have assisted many young seminarians and novitiates from the parishes surrounding our community. We are requesting once again that the membership consider a donation of $5.00 (or whatever amount is affordable) to replenish the Chaplain s Fund so that we may continue our efforts in support of the clergy. Please use the enclosed Little Blue Envelope and make checks payable to St. Anne s Chaplain s Fund. Bro. William Chuber has graciously accepted reappointment to the position of Chairman. The untimely death of our beloved Chaplain, Fr.
