Scouting for Food SCOUTING FOR FOOD TIME Scouting for Food information and Commitment forms will be in the December unit files at Roundtable. Please see that your unit s Scouting For Food coordinator receives the Information. The commitment form should be Returned to the January roundtable. Scouting for Food campaigns can be conducted In a way that best suits your unit. 1. Your unit can choose to drop off bags One day and pick them up another day Or the same day. 2., If your unit does not want to do the Door to door procedure, you have other Options: a. Set up outside a grocery store (with permission) b. Conduct a food drive at your chartered organization c. Collect items at den/pack/troop meetings. Talk with your chartered organization to see if they Have a food pantry. If not, N.E.E.D on Bedford/Euless Rd in Hurst and also Holy Trinity Baptist, on Central Drive in Bedford will be glad to receive your food items. 2 Participating in this very needed project not only helps needy People in our community but is a good experience for Our scouts in community service. 3 Page 3 Eagle s Nest BOY SCOUT ADVANCEMENT Please congratulate the following Scouts on passing his Eagle Board of Review: Nicholas Howard from Troop 86 Nicholas project description: I plan to enhance the L.D. Bell orchestra s way of displaying the trophies they have won. I will lead volunteers in building and installing a trophy case. We will also be cleaning and organizing the orchestra room. Reed Puckett from Team 6346 Reed s project description: My project will relandscape a section of Panther pond on the campus of Fossil Ridge High School. I will direct the installation of three trees and the construction and placement of three benches. Units in the news Pack 907 A Tribute to Our Military Pack 907 paid special tribute to soldiers stationed in Zerok Afghanistan. The boys wrote personal letters to the soldiers thanking them for their service and asking questions about their life. Each boy made a short video answering questions about how our military play an Jacob Sangster from Troop 509 Jacob s project description: My project will build a cage around the sound booth at the youth center at First Baptist Church in Hurst. This will provide the necessary protection to prevent any damage while young students are playing in the youth center. Kyle Hicks from Troop 757 Kyle s project description: I plan to install a garage door motor in a shed used by Project HELP, a charity organization at our charter church. We will also be cleaning areas inside and outside the shed that impede usage of the facility. Rahim Gokal from Troop 758 Rahim s project description: I plan to fix up the tree farm for the City of Arlington. We will be potting new seedlings, weeding out the old trees, important role in our country and why we should be proud of our military. We re sending a gift package with some goodies and the letters so they will be there by Christmas. We wish all our military both here at home and those serving abroad a happy holidays and come home soon. weeding out the grounds of the tree farm and replenishing the grounds with gravel. We will also be designing and distributing a brochure for asking for volunteers to help it the city s forestry department. Andrew Martin from Troop 333 Andrew s project description: My project will be to refurbish the Bedford YMCA shed. We will be repairing and replacing and repairing doors and trim and will finish by repainting the shed. Joshua Zabica from Troop 324 Joshua s project description: My project will be to install landscaping around the new medical station at Camp Woodland located in Albany Missouri. This will include placing mulch, flowers, and bushes along the building and planting two trees near the building.
