2 Raising Awareness About Life Insurance Each September since 2003 has been designated as Life Insurance Awareness Month. Like most awarenessraising campaigns, Life Insurance Awareness Month was created because there is an overwhelming lack of understanding of life insurance, its uses, its benefits, and its variations among the general public. Each year, the Life Insurance Market Research Association (LIMRA) puts out the results from a recent survey, and unfortunately, the numbers they report continue to be discouraging. A recent survey found that more than 75% of people polled did not have a personal financial advisor, even though 68% of them said their opinion of the current economic conditions was somewhat unfavorable or very unfavorable. In other words, a majority of those surveyed were uncomfortable with the uncertainty it brings, yet they did not seek professional assistance. Maybe they spoke with their friends and family. Maybe they hoped the instability would go away on its own. Maybe they did not know to whom to turn. We want to support those who are fighting this disease. While this is primarily a woman s health disease men can also develop breast cancer. More over men are affected by this cancer by loved ones being affected by our mothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, daughters, or other friends or family. Stroke Prevention Our Brother passed away from a stroke; while this is tragic the worst part is that in most cases stroke is preventable. Strokes are caused by other medical conditions that include but are not limited too: irregular heartbeat, hypertension, and Deep Vein thrombosis. These conditions left untreated may lead to a stroke. Please check with your doctor to see if you are at risk for these chronic medical conditions that may lead to a stroke. If you think you are having a stroke seek medical attention. Symptoms include facial droop, altered mental status, slurred speech, weakness on one side, and a severe headache. If you experience these symptoms call 911 immediately, YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! The Mid South Chapter of Pink Heals will be hear at St. Ann on October 18 th with their Pink Fire Engine. They will be here between the 9AM and 11 AM Mass. Thoughts from the Grand Knight I went to a large box office electronic store recently looking for a music cd. Unable to find the disc, I looked for a sales associate to help me.

Angry and upset, I was stomping out of the store when the manager standing behind his dais asked, Thanks for visiting us, did you find what you were looking for? No, I didn t I replied.

I walked aisle after aisle looking for help, but could find none. Angry and upset, I was stomping out of the store when the manager standing behind his dais asked, Thanks for visiting us, did you find what you were looking for? No, I didn t I replied. I proceeded to tell the manager what I was looking for and he had a puzzled look on his face. Let me ask Larry, he said. Larry showed up at the front of the door wearing khaki shorts, flip flops and a Bruce Springsteen t-shirt. I told him what I was looking for and Larry said, That ll be Bill s department, he s standing right over there, let me ask him. Bill was dressed in blue jeans with holes in the legs, well-worn boots, and a camouflage shirt and matching hat. Nope, we don t have that here, he mumbled to me while he was texting on his phone. I left confused, angry, and upset. How can these folks expect to make any money how are they able to stay in business if no one knows they are even employed at this store? Our council is a lot like the store I was at recently. Every week there are parishioners at St. Ann who need our help. Every week there are organizations and ministries who are looking for us to assist them. We re just too hard to find sometimes! Wear your name tag with pride at church functions.
