5 Welcome to All Scouts, Their Families and Scout Leaders! The Boy Scouts of America annually celebrate its founding on February 9, 1910, based on the program started by Lord Baden Powell in England on August 1, The goal is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development and self-reliance. Scout Sunday was added to the Scout celebration in the mid 1940s. The Scout Sunday tradition was started to make people in houses of worship aware of Scouting, and to allow Scouts to live out their Duty to God pledged each week. Our thanks to all Scouts who participated in the Worship Service today. Special thanks to all Scout parents for supporting their sons and daughters in the Scouting program and to all Scout leaders for their dedication to the children in your troop. February is Scouting for Food Month Scouting for Food is an ongoing annual program that involves collecting for local food banks. Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement. Our Pack and Troops are donating their collected food to the Morrow First UMC Food Pantry.
