This was a testimony that was given at the right time. 7 I was appointed to be a preacher and apostle of this testimony I m telling the truth and I m not lying! Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be loyal to the one and have contempt for the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. God put the wiggle in children; don t feel you have to suppress those wiggles in God s house. Consider sitting toward the front where it is easier for your little ones to engage. Quietly explain the parts of the service and actions of the pastors, musicians, and leaders. Sing the hymns, pray and voice the responses. Children learn by mimicking you. 6 ANNOUNCEMENTS FOOD MINISTRY TEAM BACK IN ACTION Beginning October 1, our Food Ministry Team will be back in action delivering meals to church family members recovering from an illness, surgery, or a recent child birth. But first we need to recruit some team members. If you enjoy cooking, fellowship, and the opportunity for service this might be the team for you. Volunteers are needed to help with the cooking and packaging of casseroles several times a year. We also need volunteers willing to deliver the meals and prepare a side dish or two to pair with it. To join our team, contact Marilyn Jordan at (home), or (cell). You can also help us by calling the church office when you re aware of a member in need of a meal. Thanks, and Bon Apetit!. 7 2016 CHURCH CONFERENCE Save the date: First United Methodist Church s All Church Conference will be on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. Our District Superintendent, Dee Williamston, will preside at this yearly business meeting. Hope you can join us! DRIVERS NEEDED We occasionally have requests from people in need of a ride over to Salina to see the doctor. Please let Jenny or John know if you have a reliable vehicle and are able and willing to drive. FALL WOMEN S BIBLE STUDY This fall Toni Schwarting and Marilyn Coleman will again be leading a women s bible study titled Always True. An excerpt from the study reads: Sometimes in life we are going along, doing all right, managing the ups and downs of our routines, when out of nowhere a boulder drops from the sky and crash lands on our lives. It might be a serious illness, a job loss, or something that just wasn t in the plan... But the weight is often sudden and crushing. We re desperate for help to come or we might not make it. That s the place in my life where the message of this book was born. I needed God s promises. This book contains five promises God makes over and over, to every person of faith, in every generation. When you make these truths your own, they ll become intensely personal, incredibly practical, and profoundly reliable. Join Toni and Marilyn on either Sundays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. beginning October 2, or Tuesdays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. beginning October 4, as they lead this next study. There will be a sign up sheet in the Narthex this Sunday, September 18, and next Sunday, September 25. They hope to see you there!
