1 Home of Past Grand Chaplain Rev. Michael Martine Antlers Tale Volume th ANNIVERSARY Issue 12 - March Hempstead Avenue, Lynbrook, New York Volume th ANNIVERSARY Issue 11 - February 2017 Anitra Butler, PER Exalted Ruler Dear Members I hope everyone had Happy and healthy holidays. The lodge have had many members who have come down with the Flu and/ or Pneumonia. I would like to thank the members who became sick and did not come to the lodge to spread the unwanted germs. Please get a flu shot. They work. The month of January has given us many reasons to celebrate. On Jan 13 th we honored many members with pins for mulfple years of service. Brian Steckler, PER stepped up as chairman of the event and did a fantasfc Job. Jan 28 th was a busy day with the district Hoop- Shoot in the morning followed by the awards ceremony back at the lodge, and followed by Comedy Nite later on in the evening. On Jan19th the A Team performed the ritual of inifafon with PER s in the chairs. The month is ending with the collecfons of posters and essay to be judged. PSVP Mike Boller, has reviewed the scholarship applicafons and forwarded them on to the State, for further judging. The start of the New Year is just starfng to warm up. February is the month when the officers are nominated for the new year, It is also the Fme of our annual Super Bowl party on Sun Feb 5 th. It is also the Fme of the visitafon of State Pres. Bill Reedy. The lodge will be welcoming the New York State president on Friday Feb 24. The lodge is hosfng a dinner Dance, in honor of the 149 th Anniversary of Elkdom. The cost is reasonable at $15. On February 25 th, the SE District Major Project will be hosfng a Mardi Gras themed fundraiser at Massapequa lodge. Please noffy the lodge if you plan on a_ending either or both events. The beginning of March the lodge will be holding it s annual March Madness fund raiser on March 12th there are sfll a few Fckets available. Please see Dennis Mescall or Mark Stuparich, for Fckets. If a member has a few hours to spare or wishes to become more involved, the lodge has many commi_ees who welcome the help. The best help can be shown by invifng a friend to join the Best People On Earth. Membership is the lifeline of Elkdom. I owe a great deal of graftude to many members who have stepped up to assist with many projects, that would not have happened due to unforeseen circumstances. These efforts makes this family stronger. The body of Elkdom, is not just the brain, the heart, the lungs, arms, legs or guts, that makes it funcfon. It is the body as a whole depending on each other that gives the soul the spirit to do great things. Be ELK Strong. Anitra Butler, PER Exalted Ruler

New York Lodge #1 s annual Veterans dinner/ show is scheduled for Wednesday evening, April 26 th along with an encore fundraising dinner performance, Friday April 28 th. Volunteer performers are welcome to join this year s producfon, The Sound of Motown. One does not have to sing like the Supremes or TemptaFons to entertain the invited Veterans from the area s VA Hospitals and the NY State Veterans Nursing Home. Comedy skits (an alternafve to singing) will also be part of the show. Rehearsals will take place Monday evenings during February through April. Part of the fun is the camaraderie during rehearsals. The big payoff is the joy that this evening will bring to our hospitalized Veterans. Let your inner performer out. Contact the Lodge if you are interested in parfcipafng or drop by at a rehearsal and join up.
