1 MERRY CHRISTMAS It's hard to believe 2013 is almost over and as busy as our year as been, the time just flew by. Visitations are almost finished and I would like to thank everyone who accompanied me to lodges throughout the district. We were a wonderful representation of Amsterdam and it was great supporting our District Deputy Brian. I would also like to thank Ken Adamowski for the wonderful dinner; Doug for helping with clean up and our girl scouts who served the meal at our visitation. Thanks to all the members who attended. It was great having your support. On Saturday November 16th, our lodge held our Veterans Day dinner. I want to congratulate Randy for once again doing an outstanding job with the planning and executing of this dinner to honor our veterans. I would also like to give a big thanks to one of our newest members, Marianna Simpson who added a very special ceremony to our program. It was very moving and I'm sure it meant a lot to everyone who attended. We have some upcoming events planned. Our Memorial service to honor our deceased members will be held on Sunday December 1st at 1:30 pm. I know it will be over by the time this newsletter comes out but I am sure Kathleen, our chaplain, will do an exceptional job on this; like she always does. The Christmas party for the kids will be held on Sunday December 8th at 2pm The cutoff date was to be November 29th..We will be having a get together at the lodge to put up the Christmas decorations some evening the week of December 2nd. Please check the board or call me for information on the date and time at There will be a get together on December 20th - a Sam Addams night starting at 5 pm. I know the holidays are coming up quickly but try and stop down for an evening of fun with other members. There will be a charity auction held in Scotia on Saturday December 7th. I posted the information on the board for anyone interested in attending. I and a few others are planning on attending so if you would like to join us, let us know and something can be worked out. We will be car pooling for this event. I believe our annual Baileys and eggs event for New Years Day will again be held. The notice will be posted on the board or included in the newsletter. If you never have been to one you don't know what you are missing. It is an awesome way to start of the new year - with family and friends. Hope to see you all there. Finally, I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope everyone gets to enjoy this holiday season with family and loved ones. The Most Valuable Student applications, for ALL HIGH SCHOOL SEN- IORS, is ONLY available on line, at mvs.cfm You may fill it out on line or print it out, and fill it out with pen. You still MUST hand in the paper application to me, by December 6, Also the NYS Elks Association application is available to download a copy of the cover page, at under the Academic Scholarship program area. This is ONLY the cover page, and it must be followed by the Most Valuable Student application, to complete the NYS application. This is ONLY available to HIGH SCHOOL SEN- IORS, of children of Elk members, in good standing. The Legacy Award is done totally on line and submitted on line, to ENF, and this is due by January 31st, This is available to high school seniors, who's parents/ step-parents, grandparents/stepgrandparents, are members in good standing and have been Elks for at least two years. Evelyn Czach assisted by Frank Czach will be accepting orders for Baseball caps, Polo Shirts, Fleece Jackets and Aprons, along with Elk's Bingo Golf Shirts for Bingo Workers. Orders can be made and samples viewed at the Food Concession Stand on Thursdays, Bingo night, the Children's Christmas Party (Dec. 8th), the Sam Adams Christmas Party (Dec. 20th) and the New Years Day Baileys Breakfast (Jan. 1st). 6 Sam Adams Christmas Friday December 20 th - Cocktails at 6 pm Food at 7 Amsterdam Elks Lodge will be sponsoring another great party with the spirit of Christmas. There will be plenty of giveaways, raffles, food and music. So save this date and come join us and enjoy the fun. We re having a grab bag gift. More will be announced in our next news letter. PIZZA, WINGS AND ANTI PASTA $ 5.00 Hello to all Wii Bowlers- Are you ready for some fun again! I hope so! It s almost here, season 2 of Wii bowling at the Amsterdam Elks. If interested in bowing this year, please sign up on the list at the lodge. Once I have the complete roster, I ll put the schedule together and let everyone know the details. The season will start either on Monday 1/6/14 or Tuesday 1/7/14. There will be two flights per night, one starting at 7:00 pm and the other at 8:00 pm. We will be using two televisions and two Wii units. The cost will be $2 per bowler per night and bowl 2 games per night. Feel free to bring munchies to enjoy and share. I have a spreadsheet all set up to record all the scores, of course. I m looking forward to another great season with fun times and memories for us all! -Brian
