1 Alton Derle McGee 04/13/2006 Elder Alton Derle McGee, 70, of 353 Willis Pope Road, Angier, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Southern Wake Medical Center in Fuquay-Varina. He was born June 21, 1935, in Johnston County to the late Alton and Floy McGee. He was the retired owner of Mac s Sewing Center in Dunn and pastor of Little Fellowship and Greenford Primitive Baptist churches. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson by Elders Walter Stewart, Stacy Pierce and Brother Mack Fowler. Entombment will follow at Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Survivors include his wife, Carol Pope McGee; sons, Robert Derle McGee of Four Oaks, Roger Lane McGee and wife Christa of Friendsville, Tenn.; daughters, Angela McGee-Platt and husband Skip of Angier, Ellen Elaine Castillo and husband Michael of Angier; brothers, James Earl McGee of Angier, Robert Sherrill McGee, Eugene Harold McGee and Kenneth Terle McGee, all of Benson; sisters, Merle Hodges and Alice Cox, both of Angier, Joyce Southerland of Wilson s Mills, Mavis Johnson of Four Oaks and Brenda Taylor of Snellville, Ga.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Danford Layton McGee, Sr. 6/29/2004 Danford Layton McGee Sr., 59, of Shady Oak Blvd., Garfield Heights, Ohio, died Sunday at his niece s home in Angier. He was born Feb. 12, 1945, in Johnston County to the late Junius and Eva McGee of Benson. He served three years in the U.S. Army. Mr. McGee was discharged in Cleveland, Ohio, where he retired from 310 Local after 32 years of service as a commercial construction foreman. He was a member of St. John s Lutheran Church in Garfield Heights. Funeral services will be held at St. John s Lutheran Church in Garfield Heights at a later date. A memorial service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church in Angier at a later date. Dolores Ann McGee McLamb 5/18/2004 Dolores Ann McGee McLamb, 72, of 1891 N.C. 55 West, Coats, died Monday at her home. Mrs. McLamb, a native of Johnston County, was born Sept. 22, 1931, to the late John Aldridge and Lola Honeycutt McGee. She was a 1951 graduate of Campbell College and was an administrative assistant in the Planning Department with the City of Raleigh. She was a member of Coats Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Coats Baptist Church by the Revs. Jesse Mooney and Chris Wroten. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. A native of McGee's Crossroads in Johnston County, Mr. McGee was the son of the Junious Guy McGee and Mrs. Eva McGee. He had lived in Durham most of his life. Mr. McGee was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. with 22 years of service. He also had been employed by Erwin Mills, Meadow Gold Dairy and Liggett & Myers. He was a Primitive Baptist. Floyd Graham McGee Smithfield Herald 7/26/2005 Floyd Graham McGee, 70, of 493 McGee Road, Benson, died Monday at WakeMed in Raleigh. Born Oct. 7, 1934, in Johnston County, Mr. McGee was the son of the late Junius Guy and Eva McGee. A retired state employee, he had last worked for the Governor Morehead School for the Blind. Mr. McGee was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Avenue Church on Christ in Raleigh. Al Bergeron and Lancelot Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow in the McGee family cemetery on McGee Road. Surviving are his wife, Beverly J. Pleasant-Coates Road, Benson, died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at his home. He was born March 10, 1939, in Johnston County to the late Frank and Beatrice Hargis Langdon. He owned and operated Langdon's Garage. Mr. Langdon was a member of Barbourtown Church of God and served in the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his wife Maudie Lee Honeycutt McGee in He was a Deacon and Elder of Providence Presbyterian Church and former member of the West Johnston Volunteer Fire Department. A US Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Banner in Benson and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. She was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Johnston County to the late James Vernon and Edna Penny Langdon. She was a homemaker and member of Benson Grove Baptist Church. Simmons Street died Thursday at Martin General Hospital. He was native of Johnston County, born August 13, 1911, to the late James Floyd and Mamie Langdon McGee. He was a former resident of Benson, a retired auto salesman for Ford Dealerships and a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Williamston. Mr. McGee was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda M. Taylor; and a brother, Elder Derle McGee. He had retired from the Merita Bread Company as a salesman after 35 years of service. Mr. McGee also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Banner Post 109. Mr. McGee was a member of McGee United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Joe Ann Eason McGee; daughter, and son-in-law, Lisa McGee and Elton Pridgen, Jr. of Four Oaks; son, Scott McGee and Fiancee, Rhonda Stephenson of MeGee's Crossroads; grandchildren, Daniel Scott McGee, Hannah Jane McGee, Aaron James McGee, Linsey Ann Pridgen, and Elton Pridgen, III; sister, Annie Merle Hodges of Angier, Joyce Southerland of Wilson Mills, Alice Cox of Angier, and Mavis Johnson of Four Oaks; brothers, Robert S. 9 James Sherrill Baker October 11, 1997 James Sherrill Baker, 64, died Wednesday at his home. He was the son of Gertrude Ryals Baker and the late Charlie Waylon Baker. The Johnston County native was born on Aug. 22, 1914, to the late Primrose and Zora Mae Stanley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson McGee; and a daughter, Athelene Langdon. She was a homemaker and a member of Johnson Memorial Church. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Memorial Church in Benson by the Rev. J. Dan Hudson and Dr. Ron Byrd. Linda loved life, her family and had a great love for animals, especially horses.
