"Ida County soils is good enough for me" was quoted from his son, J. Orien Scott, 20 Aug BIOGRAPHY: J. Orien Scott developed dates and places for all of his brothers and sisters. Also, Cousin Clara Scott Lacey has a paper written by Estella showing some facts. Father, William Andrew Scott, came to Iowa from Ohio with his Mother and Step-Father, John Johnson, about William Andrew's own Father, John Scott, was killed in a buggy accident in Adena, Ohio, in 1860, leaving his Mother, Susanna Daugherty Scott, a widow with seven children. WIthin a few years, the wife of a neighboring farmer, John Johnson, died, leaving him with seven children. On 7 April 1863, Susanna Scott and John Johnson had what Cousin Faye Scott Witt called "a merger, and then they had 14 children." Six of Johnson children, and five of the Scott children came to Iowa with their parents in The deed records in Marshall County show that John Johnson bought land in LaMoille, Marshall County, from John Hayne (Susanna's brother-in-law) and Thomas Hayne, borther of John Hayne, on 29 March and June 21, WIlliam Andrew Scott came to farm in Danbury on the 80 acres which he bought from the Railroad Land Company, in William then bought an adjoining 80 acres from his Brother, John Wesley Scott. After Father WIlliam Andrew died, Mother Estella Scott moved to Ida Grove in 1908, so the youngest boys could go to High School (J. Orien and Homer). His granddaughter, Clara Mae Scott Lacey, and other members of the Scott family still belong to and are active in the Methodist Church in Danbury. [Information from Elizabeth Scott Denny] Estella Butler September 02, 1872, Marshall, IA Estella Butler May 17, 1942 DEATH: Location of death was 842 W. Second St., Ida Grove, Ida, IA BIOGRAPHY: Estella came to Iowa from Illinois in a covered wagon in 1854 (when she was 3 years old) and with her parents.
