1 Carmelita Siscoe M. Grissom Core Hall February 28, 1995 Mrs. Carmelita Grissom Hall, 69, of Erwin died Monday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. She was retired from Good Hope Hospital. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Erwin Church of God by the Rev. Currie Parker. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park. Mrs. Hall is survived by a son, Walter Core of Erwin; a daughter, Diann Avery of Dunn; a brother, Bob Grissom of Burlington; a sister, Syvada Holder of Lillington; and four grandchildren. Charles Franklin Core 03/06/2006 Charles Franklin Core, 55, of Erwin went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, March 5, 2006, in the peace and comfort of his home while surrounded with unconditional love from his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, loving father and faithful servant. His spirit radiated for all to see as he dedicated his life to serving others. Most importantly, he was a man of faith who inspired those around him to live life to the fullest! Charlie was the son of the late Earnie B. and Annie Buie Core and was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Jack Core; and a sister, Louise. He graduated from Erwin High School in 1968 and ultimately received his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of Southern Illinois. Upon graduation, he was a dedicated employee of Morganite Inc., where he worked until his medical retirement in Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Erwin United Methodist Church by the Rev. Steve Little. Burial will follow at Erwin Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Oglesby Core; daughters, Allison and Adrienne Core, both of the home; a brother, Alton Core of Florence, S.C.; two sisters, Annie Ruth Matthews of Erwin and Carolyn Spell of Plain View. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, March 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Erwin United Methodist Church and other times at the home. 2 Irma Ward Core August 18, 1997 Mrs. Irma Ward Core, 87, of Dunn, formerly of Countryside Villa in Wade, died Saturday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Erwin Church of God by the Revs. Currie Parker, Billy Nowell and Jerome Pope. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Core is survived by four sons, David Core and Leesane Core, both of Erwin, Willie E. Core of Smithfield, Va., and James R. Core of Dunn; five daughters, Lucille Pate and Vicky Core, both of Angier, Alice F. Montgomery and Irma Nordhus, both of Fayetteville, and Lanette Williford of Benson; two sisters, Sue Belk of Wade and Lois Edge of White Oak; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. James Earl Core 3/8/2004 James Earl Core, 61, of Dunn died Sunday morning at Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Ernie and Annie Core. Mr. Core served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked at Tom s Snacks for eight years as a route salesman. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Stancil Baucom. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Edna D. 3 Kermit Moore Core 05/15/2007 Kermit Moore Core, 98, of Dunn died Monday morning, May 14, 2007, at Core Family Care. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Hardy and Evelyn Young Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle Core; and sisters, Callie Barefoot and Vada Webb. She was a life-long member of Grove Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Lillie Lee Circle and recently received the Lifetime Membership in Presbyterian Women certificate. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grove Presbyterian Church by the Rev. JoAnne Mercer. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery. Lela Mae Core Capps 02/20/2003 Lela Core Capps, 91, of Smithfield died Tuesday afternoon at Wake Medical Center. She was born Feb. 7, 1912, in Sampson County to the late Columbus Roland and Alice Hair Core. She was the widow of Charles David Capps and was preceded in death by a son, Charles Graham Capps. She was a member of Selma Church of God of Prophecy. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma by the Revs. Curtis Stump and Elton Parker. 5 Ronald Ezra Core March 4, 2001 BATH -- Ronald Ezra Core, 40, of 225 Ormond Ave., formerly of Fayetteville, died Friday. Mr. Core worked for Coastal Chemical Co. He was a member of Bath United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hillside Funeral Service chapel in Washington by the Rev. Ron Estes. Burial will be in Pamilco Memorial Gardens. Mr. Core is survived by his wife, Donnetta W. Cookie Core of Fayetteville; two daughters, Amber L. Core of Fayetteville and Jessica R.
