1 Pastor s Paragraphs I continue to be grateful for all the group leaders and each one who has attended the Sunday evening sessions on prayer. The feedback which has come to me has been really good, both from individuals about their prayer life, as well as what is happening in the groups. I hope you understand the clear purpose of this month s emphasis. The point is not just to have a study, but rather, to encourage and help facilitate a more meaningful prayer experience for a larger number of believers in our church. Neither our individual lives nor our church will ever be stronger than the prayers of the people for God s will to be done among us. Let me specifically say a word about how significant I think this study has been. There are three critical ingredients of an effective prayer ministry in a church: unity, appreciation and transparency. The Sunday night groups which were formed around birthday months brought a crosssection of people together who are getting to know each other. They are becoming more unified into the body of Christ by becoming more aware of each other and our church needs. I am hearing that by the third week some groups are celebrating prayer progress and answered prayer with one another. Momentum builds on success. Keep it up. And third, the groups are beginning to foster transparency. This is a fundamental aspect of both personal and group praying. Openness regarding need and willingness to submit to the Lord will pay great spiritual dividends. I was so pleased last fall that my grandson, Andrew Dennis, made a profession of faith in his church in Birmingham. As might be the case in your family, it has not been easy to find a time with family schedules for his baptism. It will be a great joy as it has been with the others, for me to baptize him this coming Sunday in his church. I hope you will pray for this very meaningful time in our family. Also, I urge you to be present Sunday morning for our service here. It will be our privilege to have Rev. Bob Sandifer, one of our own and a dear friend to me in ministry, to preach. I know you will hear him prayerfully and look forward to what God has to say to our church through him. Rick Marshall IN THE PULPIT A.M. Rev. Bob Sandifer Vol. 61 No. 4 / Friday, January 27, EHBC, Montgomery, AL Classes are each Sunday at 5:00 pm There are 12 rooms and they are divided by birth month. The children have their own Bible Study. Birth-K will be in Room 108 and the 1st-6th grade are in Room 125.
