1 Pastor s Paragraphs Join with me in expressing profound gratitude to Keith and the entire Music Ministry team for the outstanding presentation on Sunday afternoon. Each year I think it can t be better than the year before, but it is. Certainly this year was no exception. A number of people have commented to me how warm, personal, worshipful and spiritual this service was for all of us. Every facet had special meaning to our hearts. Also let me urge you not to forget other special services of the season. This coming Sunday evening you don t want to miss the Sounds of EHBC. Certainly among the highlights of the year will be the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. I also want to ask each of our church family to consider your stewardship of resources to God s work for this year through our church budget. It is the operating budget which makes all the other wonderful things about our church keep functioning. I am so grateful we have paid off the debt for the building and have had special gifts to missions and other needs. But to be honest, even with some reductions in personnel this year and very careful management, we are behind in our receipts for the budget compared to expenses. While our church is in the habit of catching up at the end of the year, this year is more urgent with a larger need than in most years at this time. The question is not whether God has provided to our individual lives the funds to support His Kingdom work through our church, but rather, our commitment to be good stewards. I will say again, I have never in ministry had anyone come back to say they were not blessed or sorry for following the lead of the Holy Spirit in stewardship. Surely none of us are so naïve as to think God does not know the condition of our heart. If some of us are coasting on the backs of other people s faithfulness, does that represent genuine faith and Biblical teachings? Is that the way to find God s blessings in our lives and for others? Therefore, it is my prayer that all of us would give attention to loving God with our gifts this Christmas and know that He will bless our church and our lives! Rick Marshall IN THE PULPIT A.M.
