2 Letters From Timothy Letters From Timothy SOUL FOOD CAFÉ Our mission is to Go WEST! The E in our mission is to equip. To help you fulfill that part of the mission we have scheduled an outstanding line-up of Bible Studies. Our goal is that half of our regular worshippers will sign-up and participate in a Bible Study this Fall. The goal: 120 participants. Studies range from shorter 4-6 week studies to a 36 week study of the whole Bible! Deep Dive studies will also be forming. Sign-ups are in the welcome center, or you may call the church office. NEW THIS FALL we are having the Wednesday Night Meal catered. A BIG change will require you to PRE-PAY for your meal. Envelopes will be available for you to submit your payment. Pre- payment can be submitted weekly or monthly. The menu will be listed in the newsletter. Each meal will feature an entrée, salad, two vegetables, dessert, and tea. Adult price will be $5.00. Elementary Children will be $2.50 (this will be a child portion, please order an adult portion if your child prefers larger portions). We also have an elementary child maximum charge for two children. Families with three or more elementary children pay only for the first two. Our Wednesday Nights has a new name: Soul Food Café. Our goal is to feed your body and soul. Sign-up soon! Keep the SON in your eyes! When we think of generosity, we might think of the size of the gift or the nobility of the cause. However, Jesus measured generosity by a radically new standard: the condition of the giver s heart. For wherever your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21) Therefore, giving is more than an obligation for followers of Christ, it is an exciting opportunity to lay up treasure that will last for all eternity. The Lord Jesus himself said It is more blessed to give than receive. (Acts 20:35b) When you let yourself feel what would happen if you trusted God to provide for your needs, it instantly changes your perspective (on generous giving) forever. Secret Church Begins September 17 th 6pm - Midnight Imagine living in a place where you were not free to study and discuss the Bible openly; where faith in Christ and belief in the teachings of the Bible were not only discouraged, but actually dangerous. How committed would you be to God's Word in a place like this, where your beliefs could threaten your home, your family, even your life? For millions of believers around the world, this imaginary place is an everyday reality. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ; their faith is strong and true, their church is a secret church, underground, hidden from the eyes of earthly authorities. But they are growing--often thriving--among those who would kill followers of Jesus Christ if given the opportunity. When we think of "church" in America, we think of going to meet at a building, singing, praying and hearing a message from a Pastor. In many places around the world, "church" meets in a home, an apartment, even in secret. These small groups of Christ-followers often meet for many hours in study, prayer and fellowship, as it is dangerous to travel to "church" and they want to make the most of their time together. Secret Church is our "house church," where we meet periodically for an intense time of Bible study (4-6 hours). We also pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters across the globe. In our country we often hear some version of the following: "Your life will be much better as a Christian. You'll have fewer problems, a happier outlook and be blessed with the comforts of life you need." What if this wasn't true? In fact, what if being a Christ-follower meant persecution? What if it meant being outcast from friends and family, living in fear of personal harm, or losing the comforts of life? The Bible confirms throughout the New Testament that the life of a Christ-follower will often not be one of happiness, but suffering. It might be tough to hear, but sometimes it is in our suffering that God is really glorified. Think about it--if life is really tough, and we still acknowledge God and our faith grows in the midst of difficult times, then He gets the glory for our actions. After all, it's easy to say, "God is faithful" when things are going great. It's harder to believe when things are not. Secret Church is not for the uncommitted or faint at heart. If you desire to know God more deeply through His Word, and know His Church more fully around the world, then please join us for Secret Church. God will use this focused time of study to equip you through knowledge of His Word as we gain understanding of the state of His Church and our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. The objective of Secret Church is for you to pass along what you learn, so that others can become disciples of Christ--both locally and global. When? Where? Cost? Leaders? What? 6 Couts Christian Academy begins 6th year Couts Christian Academy Begins Its 6 th School Year The church doors opened Monday morning, August 23 to welcome 138 children to C.C.A. for the 2010/2011 school year. Our C.C.A. children range from 2 yrs. Old to 4 th graders. We ve come a long way from our 2 day a week mother s day out program with 40 children to our licensed preschool and elementary. Each year we take steps of growth by adding another school grade and new programs. New additions for this year include; 4 th grade, 5 day a week P.E. for our elementary children, Stretch and Grow class for our 2 s and 3 s, and Spanish for our pre k 4 and elementary. C.C.A. is blessed with 24 incredible teachers and support staff that work way beyond their salaries. The preschool is well known in the community and new families find us easily through word of mouth. We are still working hard to let Weatherford know that we also have an elementary school. One visual we are trying is Couts Christian Academy Yard Signs. We would like for anyone in the congregation who lives on a well traveled street to consider placing a sign in their yard. Signs are available in the C.C.A. office. A big strong thank you to the team of people who came on Friday, August 20 th to install the rubber playground mulch. The helpers included; Butch Hott, Jason Madoerin, Clenton Collier, Kayliegh Bazzell, Gloria Black, Dennis Waters, Tim Jarrell, Allison, Tucker, and Nancy Jane Taylor, Larry Vanhoozer and Larry s tractor. Thank you Janet Ragsdale for providing the breakfast burritos, I m sure they gave the energy needed to knock out the job in just 5 hours. So sorry to all the people who were planning to come and help on Saturday. We didn t mean to finish so quickly and leave you out of the fun, it just happened. Thank you New Vision Class and Elior Class for sharing your Sunday School rooms with CCA to provide us with needed space for Music, Spanish and Chapel Class. We want to say thank you to our church family for the amazing support you have shown us this past week. This church surrounded us with an unimaginable amount of love and prayer and we are forever grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you for being such incredible blessings!!
