1 REVELATIONS AT CONCORD Enter to Worship: Depart to Serve June 2018 Mission Statement: To share the Word of God and draw people unto Christ through a ministry of service, love, compassion and outreach. This past weekend was Memorial Day weekend, a time when we celebrate those who have served in our Armed Forces and given their lives in ultimate sacrifice. It is a truly important time of remembrance and gratitude. It also reminds us as Christians of the one who sacrificed all for our sake, Jesus Christ. God came to earth in human flesh, lived among us, and died to take on the power of sin and redeem and restore us from it. Even better, he was resurrected three days later, and as a result of that life, death, and resurrection, we experience God's grace and forgiveness. What a wonderful truth! What a message of hope! Even more, that love is so powerful, that nothing we have done, or that the world has done to us, can make God love us any less. Paul reminds us of this in Romans 8: 35-39, saying, "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written, For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." A message of love and hope based on the sacrifice of our savior, Jesus Christ. Michael Concord UMC 1

All women of the church and friends are invited. Please plan to attend and be a part of planning our activities for the coming months. A project of our UMW is the making and sale of chicken pies. If you are interested in participating in this project, please contact Janet Ford ( ) We welcome men to help with the pie making, also! Trustees The Trustees have been assessing the needs of the church related to maintenance and to security. If you have a suggestion or concern, let Janet Ford ( ) or Larry Melaga know. Many tasks are addressed without the awareness of the congregation. Thanks to those who willingly spend time, effort, and resources to keep our facilities maintained and comfortable. If you have a maintenance skill which might be helpful for our facilities, please let us know. Prayer Shawl Group The Prayer Shawl Group meets every other Thursday at 10:00 am to work on shawls to donate to those in need of a special blessing in their lives. All are welcome to join this ministry. If you are unable to knit or crochet, we are willing to help you learn. Call Helen Gainsford at This month we will meet on June 14 th, and June 28 th. 4 Monthly Prayer Meeting The Monthly Prayer Meeting will be on Saturday, June 16 th at 8:00 am. Join us in praying for our church and our community! Visitation Team The Visitation Team is a new project for our congregation. The 1 st Wednesday of each month we will visit one of our members who is shut in. We will meet in the church parking lot at 6:30 pm. Please join us! Next month we ll meet on Wednesday, June 6 th. Women s Handicrafts We will meet on Wednesday, June 13 th, at 10:00 am for a time of fellowship. Call Wilma Jones for more information. All are invited to come join in the fun. Bring any handwork with you, or just come and enjoy the fellowship. Farewell Join us on Sunday, June 24th for a lunch in the Family Life Center from to 2:00 as we celebrate Reverend Michael Flack, his family, and his tenure at Concord. We ll gather to enjoy a wonderful meal together and bid Reverend Flack and his family best wishes and God s grace as he moves to his new church appointment. The Nurture/Outreach Committee will provide the main dish along with beverages and ask that our congregation provide a covered-dish of side items and desserts. We hope to see all members join us as we say farewell and show our appreciation.
