Thursday, January 17 9:00-11:00am, Women s Bible Study Grace: Ephesians Friday, January 18 7:00pm, God s Girls Lock-In Good Stewards God has given all of us time, talent and treasure. These resources are given in varying amounts. God s expectations of how we are to steward these resources is most clearly seen in the parable of the talents. (Matthew 25:14-30) This may be a bit confusing at this point since a talent in the story describes the treasure with which a person was entrusted. A talent was a weight measurement of a precious metal such as gold or silver. In this story the men did not receive an equal amount. Yet, each was expected to be a good steward of what had been given to him. The man who received the one talent, perhaps because he had not received a greater amount, decided to not practice good stewardship with what he had been given. The bottom line is that everyone has been given resources by God which can be used for His glory. God looks with favor on those who practice good stewardship of what we have been given. After all, it is the faithful application of theses resources for the glory of God s kingdom that makes an impact. Resources hidden or hoarded accomplish little as was true of the man in the parable who hid the treasurer that had been entrusted to him. Many businesses have just taken an inventory of their assets at the end of the year. This is a good idea for each of us. When is the last time you took an inventory of the time, talent and treasure entrusted to you by God? Take a look and see if you are investing these resources to the glory of God or if you are hiding or hoarding what you have been given. Do you bless God for the resources He has given you or do you bemoan the observation that others have resources you do not have? We effectively prepare people to meet Jesus when we are good stewards of what has been entrusted to us.
