3 Middle School Boys Early Childhood News This week in the Early Childhood Division has been amazing! We are so excited to welcome back two of our beloved teachers- Morah Shaindel Roland and Morah Tamar Mayers! Here is a peek into week: Younger Toddlers Learning about cleaning for Pesach Decorating aprons for cleaning Cleaning the classroom from all the chametz! Rice table- sensory fun! Older Toddlers Classroom "Doctor's office" Playing "Find the Chametz" Making a ke'arah Spring bulbs are blooming Nursery Letter "S" and spaghetti sensory play Letter "Kuf" and "Kof" (monkey) projects "Koftzim" (jumping) on bubble wrap! What a couple of weeks it has been at GMS BMS! Last week we were treated to a Purim competition, a two day intense contest. Wednesday's activities included divrei torah presented by each team on a purim-related topic, a trivia game, and charades. After a day off for Purim, we resumed the contest. Friday's activities included a purim comedy video created by each team, a dress up/face painting contest, and some good old skills and sports competitions. The highlight of all of this was that it was arranged and led entirely by the student council! Rabbi Kahn really enjoyed the time to relax. Rumor has it that next year the student council will be running the GMS BMS as Rabbi Kahn takes a sabbatical. Thank You to Nosson Freed, Nachi Kahn, Ari Smith and Kalman Weinrib for a job well done! This week was Drill week! We began with a successful tornado drill. Then we had a visit from Lieutenant Forrest, who trained us in lock-down procedures. Tuesday morning- POWPOW- "intruder" in the building with a lock-down drill, but we were not done! Tuesday afternoon the "intruder" was back. We really feel confident that we are learning the procedures to keep ourselves safe in the event of an emergency, G-D forbid. But the week wasn't over- in came GMFD and performed a fire drill. They were very impressed at how quickly and efficiently we evacuated the building. With all this going on, B"H every class still had plenty of time to jump right into hilchos pesach and haggadah preparations. With so much action this week and state testing coming up next week, we hope the boys have plenty of time to rest up over Shabbos! Middle School Girls We had a great week! Lots of learning, keeping the Adar spirit and beginning the Pesach preparations have kept us real busy! Mazal tov to the Fifth Grade Girls for finishing Parshas Bo! The fifth grade girls also enjoyed a fun avar review game with avar musical accompaniment! As the girls prepared to continue to the next shofet in Navi, they did a thorough review on shiras Devora! Mazal tov to the Sixth Grade Girls for finishing perek yud dalet in Navi! The girls made beautiful slide show presentations on the storyline of the perakim they've been learning. In Ivrit, the girls have begun their unit on clothing! Mazal tov to the Seventh Grade Girls for finishing their unit on Birchos Krias Sh'ma! As they begin to learn about the tefila of Sh'ma Yisrael, they certainly feel the awe and importance of this tefila! In Navi, the seventh grade girls have been enjoying preparing and teaching different parts of the Navi to their classmates! Mazal tov to the Eighth Grade Girls for finishing perek yud gimmel in Navi! They even began perek yud dalet, learning about the death of Yeravam's son. The eighth grade Girls also began the tefila of Sh'moneh Esrei! They focused on the importance of this tefila and its comparability to the Kodesh Kodoshim. Mazal tov to Yael Kibel and Leah Spetner for earning the BINA trip this week!! Yasher koach!!! There's not much time left in our BINA program this year, and we are so proud of the girls who are working hard to earn their points!

4 Message from Director of General Studies WW This year s state testing for all 3 rd 8 th graders is scheduled for April Although state testing is not the only measurement for how we are doing as a school, it is an important barometer and one that should be taken seriously. April 20 April May 2 May 30 Important Dates 1:30 dismissal-pesach Break Pesach Return to school Memorial Day no school We need to ask for a few favors for next week: Please ensure that your student gets plenty of sleep each night. Please ensure that your child has a good breakfast each day. If at all possible, please avoid scheduling appointments that will conflict with the testing times; scheduling makeup tests can be quite challenging. Please ensure that your child has two sharpened #2 pencils for the tests. Students on EDChoice Scholarship must take all tests. Please note that once a test starts, students cannot enter the room late. Please be especially careful to ensure your students are on-time this week! Thank you in advance for your support during these tests! Condolences To Yitzchok, Yaakov, & Avraham Rosedale and family, on the p tira of their brother, Yehuda Olanoff.
