1 ב"ה TLC Nishmas NEWSLETTER 18 th May 2018 ב מ ד ב ר / שבועות - Shavuos Bamidbor/ "THE GOAL OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SHOULD BE TO ACTIVATE THE CHILD'S OWN NATURAL DESIRE TO LEARN Dear Parents and Grandparents, We hope you all had a lovely week! In this week's parsha of Bamidbor, we learn about the 12 Mattos (Tribes) of the Bnei Yisroel. Each Tribe had their very own flag with a special sign on it. Each Tribe had a leader! We learnt the names of the 12 Tribes through singing: Reuben, Shimon, Levi, Yehudah, Yissachar, Zevulun, Dan, Naftoli, Gad, Asher, Yosef and Binyomin! We also learn how the B'nei Yisroel had to walk through the desert carrying the Mishkan! Imagine carrying something so heavy through a desert! OI VEY! Monday: Let s start our week!... "I go to the park with my grandpa and my family. I eat chicken and fish and fish and chips and I drink water. Shabbos at home in the shabbos table. Grape juice, challah and little salads. Grandpa lives in Paris. I go to the park and I made stickers in the paper. I go to the bus after the stickers and I put pymjamas and after I go to sleep" - Samuel "I had my dummy on when I was going with daddy. I didn't go to shul I was just sleep. I eat breakfast at home it is now in my tummy. I went home. I put my cardigan on. I eat strawberries with Rebecca. Mama is going to fetch me today" - Layla "My mummy got me Fireman Sam pants. I stayed at home. I went to the park across the road of my house and then I ate pizza. I got new shoes from the shop and they light up. They're a size 3. I went to a funfair and I wear my new shoes" - Benji "It was Natan's birthday at home. We did activities. We did food experiments, we did it with sugar. Where we putted the water, the rocket went it then it shoot. It needed a cup, the water and the sugar went in the cup then it shoot. We did this activity outside and some in my house. I did a bubbles experiment as well. It was on a stick then it was going on the floor and whoever popped it then it was gone. Whoever got the bubble gave it to the people then we did it again" - Talya "I went to the park with daddy with the ball. I went on the swings. Daddy went on the big boy one and the big girl one. He went on the funny thing. I went on the slide and the other slide and I went on this thing" - Rosie "I went in the car with mummy. Daddy. We went to the park, Sam Sam, mummy and daddy. I went on the slide, and daddy ushed me on the swing" - Emy Page 1 of 6

2 "I went to the park with daddy. Isaac stayed at home with mummy. I went on the big boy swing. I went and played in the sand too" - Asher "I play ball. I kick it. Eitan, mummy and daddy. I eat chicken with potatoes. Apple juice. Sunday park with Eitan" - Daniel "I went with my mummy and daddy on the school bus to house. I eat ice cream lollipop. I go to the park, I went with my mummy" - Linor "I went with daddy to the offi8ce. My dada's office. I work there. I eat challah" - Natan "I go in my daddy's car. I go home, I play with my toys. I eat cake at home on Friday. The candles. Daddy is going come and get me. I play with my sister Becca and my daddy legos" - Raphy "I did supper in my house. Challa, I don't like wine. I don't want chopped liver because we don't buy chopped liver. I don't have the eggy. Mummy didn't have salad. I went to shul to the children service. There was grape jui8ce, chocolate, fruit. I drink grape juice. I play with mummy and daddy" - Aaron "I went to the park. I go to swings. I eat sandwich cheese. I play Fireman Sam with mummy. Not to shul" - Rafi "I went on the park very high. I go with mummy and daddy and Zack" Joel LOVELY STORIES CHILDREN WITH LOTS OF HIDE AND SEEK GOING ON! Today, to coincide with the sedra and the tribes of the B'nei Yisroel carrying their own flags with their special sign and symbol on it, the children made their very own flags with their Hebrew name on it. They decorated them, sharing resources well! WELL DONE CHILDREN! We then began to teach them the Aleph, Beis in Hebrew through singing! Tuesday: This week is Shavuos...Shavuos is such simcha! This is when B'nei Yisroel received the Torah! What a wonderful Present from Hashem! We explained to the children that on Shavuos we eat milky food and decorate our homes and shuls with pretty flowers! NAASEIH VNISHMAH! Page 2 of 6

3 Today the children made wonderfully yummy cheesecake in celebration of Shavuos and the yummy milky foods that we eat to celebrate! AND THEY TRULY CAME OUT DELICIOUS! How much fun did you have children crushing the biscuits! WELL DONE CHILDREN, SUCH SUPER STARS! Wednesday: As we mentioned last week in the newsletter there was no Show & Tell this week so as to celebrate the wonderful gift of receiving Hashem's special Present, The Torah, the children made the Torah out of puff pastry and veg sausages! They all did a great job folding their pastry over their sausages! GREAT JOB CHILDREN! HASHEM GAVE US A PRESENT, AND WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS HE GAVE US THE TORAH AND WE MUST KEEP ITS LAWS! 4 Thursday: Today the children planted in celebration of Shavous! Not only did they plant in little pots to take home but for our outdoor area too! We put different seeds on different plates to give the children an opportunity to identify that seeds can come in all different shapes and sizes. We had little round ones, tiny ones, long ones, big flat ones for them to take a look at. We explained that these different seeds produce different types of flowers in a variety of colours, sizes, shapes and smells! Well done Yakira for pointing out that a particular seed looked like "a little rectangle" and Benji for pointing out that they all need water to grow! WELL DONE CHILDREN! WE WILL BE LOOKING AT OUR OUTDOOR PLANTERS EVERYDAY TO SEE HOW OUR SEEDLINGS WILL EVENTUALLY GROW INTO BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS (AND BEANS). PARENTS, BY THE TIME YOUR CHILDREN GO TO BIG SCHOOL THEY WILL BE EXPERTS IN BAKING AND PLANTING! Friday: About time we had a birthday to celebrate at nursery! And we had TWO!!!! Happy Birthday to our Talya! May your 3rd Birthday be brilliantly bright from early morning till late at night!
