Week 4 Dear Parents, When we were reading over the newsletters last Shabbos, we were happy we thanked the parents for sending us such great campers who make a Kiddush Hashem. Yet, we regretted not acknowledging our wonderful Head Staff & Counselors who are constantly encouraging, enforcing, modeling and praising the campers for good middos. But, Baruch Hashem, we have another chance to thank the Staff. Yesterday, we received a message from Zip City that their Staff exclaimed that they have never seen such Once again, we cannot express enough our enormous HaKaras HaTov to Mrs. Ellen Pollock for her years and years of toil & sweat, effort & perseverance, blood & tears to start and create Camp Ashreinu. You are a source of inspiration to us all!!! Thank you Mrs. Pollock We hope this bulletin brings you much deserved smiles and Nachas!!! well behaved children. Thank you Camp Ashreinu Staff!! Our Staff really stress proper Middos, starting with the Toddlers. Upon walking through Camp Ashreinu s hallways, one would hear the Toddlers Morah say, "Great Job Sharing!" or the Preschool teachers saying "Hurray for being Mevater! You get a sticker," In the Girls/TC Division, one would see a counselor quietly pulling a girl aside and praise her for choosing a partner with someone, who may not be her best friend. In Boys Division, the Davening, Learning, Middos, chart is up for all to see. Yes, in Camp Ashreinu, we play sports and games, But the real winners are the ones with top Middos!! 2 Page 2 Camp Ashreinu 2017!! Week 4 Toddler Division Dear Parents, We had such a fun-packed week! We did more activities than ever before. On Monday, we enjoyed coloring... on the sidewalk! We made so many interesting shapes and lines in all the different colors. Sidewalk chalk is so dusty, so some of us had the good idea to wipe our hands on the grass to clean them off. We have been enjoying our new little Torahs at davening time. Each of us decorated one with such shiny sequins, to hold and kiss when we sing our Torah song. We are very good at putting our Torahs away for tomorrow. On Tuesday, we played outside. Morah Chaviva added some excitement by shpritzing us with the hose. We had a great time running through the spray, and getting cool on such a hot summer day. We also made yummy s'mores out of graham crackers, marshmallow fluff, and chocolate chips. We practiced our spreading skills and really impressed our Morahs with our abilities. Some of us sampled our treats before they made it into our bags, but we had enough self control to bring them home. On Wednesday, not only did we swim, we played in the muscle room as well. It was such a nice surprise to find all the new balls there! We got busy right away collecting, throwing, rolling, and bouncing the balls. There is so much we can do with them! They make a nice "bonk" sound when they hit something, and they are always rolling away, so we have to chase them into all sorts of corners. On Thursday, we strung colorful cheerios bracelets. Some of us are so good at stringing that we made two! It was hard not to eat such yummy treats right away, but we saved them until we got home. We hope to have another Shabbos party on Erev Shabbos. 4 Page 4 Camp Ashreinu 2017!! Week 4 Preschool Division This Week s Theme: soaring animals! We had another fantastic week in Ashreinu s Preschool division! We had so much fun being bees, running from the flower to the hive to bring the pollen! On Tuesday, we experimented with balloons and feathers, trying to get our balloons to fly. And did you see our soaring silhouettes? We enjoyed sponge painting on top of our bird cutouts to make our beautiful projects. We love Thursdays, because that means we have music AND library. We had a blast playing animal tag with the entire Preschool division, and creating beautiful butterflies out of coffee filters. Friday Fun! Our Fun with Food activity was making flying bees with cupcakes and frosting. Mrs. Pfeiffer has been teaching us about Vi Ahavta Li-reacha Kamocha, making sure that we treat all of our friends nicely. We enjoyed each bunk s spunky performance by our Shabbos party! Trip Day! Swings, slides, trampolines, soccer Recreations Outlet was this week's destination! We were even able to go swimming in the morning before our trip. Swimming and a trip- it s the best day!, said camper AA. We will miss you!! 6 Page 6 Camp Ashreinu 2017!! Week 4 Dear Parents, Girls Division This week your daughters amazed us with their talents in our annual production. The Sweetest Lemon was a night of song dance, STOMP, drama, choir, amazing energy, and of course achdus! Thank you to our incredible talented SEED counselors, as you amazed us with your love for each camper. Thank you for coming and spending your summer to create a magical summer for our daughters. May you take the CINCY experience with you in your next stage of life. This week began with Orange juice/ Color day/ Tie dying shirts that came out super cool and ended with a good bye slide show from our amazing counselors. In Art this week, the CITS made fluffy pillows and painted canvases, while the youngest bunks fashioned money bags for the trips. Then we were off to baking as bunks 3,4 and CIT made delicious cinnamon buns (not from Rhodes dough), adorable flower marshmallow cupcakes, and sandwich cookie happy faces. The 1 st and 2 nd grade bunks made snowmen cookies. Even though it's super-hot outside the cookies didn t melt. Being happy with what you have! How to achieve the treasure of Simcha. Mrs. Gabay taught the Perek of Eza hoo Ashir? Ha sameach b chelko. The girls pasted overflowing treasure chests in their scrapbooks, yet drew a person who was still unhappy. Mrs. Gabay encouraged the girls to looking at life with the cup ½ full, instead of 1/2 empty. In Sports with Mrs. Kirschner, we enjoyed playing Chinese soccer, prisoner, save the statue, and line-up. WE LOVE SPORTS!!!!!!! Our Trip to Zip City was a blast. The girls were flying on the ziplines, climbing, and bouncing galore! When the campers arrived back at camp, they had an awesome time in the red and blue ice shirt bucket war. What great team work! And they had so much fun playing the mystery box race, thanks to all our contestants! The Fourth grade bunk had a special day, as their counselors (Esther Malka and Leeba) whisked them on a run-away. They first headed to Graeters, then a special dollar store surprise, and last they had a late-night swim. The achdus and excitement was truly tangible in that bunk! The CITs also had a special late night, as they celebrated how hard they worked on the performance with the drama, scenery, and props with a special Graeters Cast party! A Huge thank you to Nechama Ottensoser for working so hard this summer, we really appreciate your hard work, amazing dedication, and love for each camper. We will miss you. 8 TCs Dear Parents Imosh, What an AWESOME week we had!! It's our counselors last week and boy, did they want to make it memorable. On Monday, we enjoyed perfect weather and spent the whole day & night at Kings Island. Watching the fireworks show as we were upside down on a rollercoaster was incredible!! It was so much fun. camping out and having a bbq dinner there as well. Tuesday, was Powerade day and we went to work out in the Gym. Jungle Gym and enjoyed a scavenger hunt. On Wednesday, Orange juice/color day, we made orange juice out of fresh oranges. We were able to be in full color as we did a great job on our Stomp. Thank you Leeby Travis for teaching and directing it to us. We were great!! On Thursday, Royal Day, we spread out the red carpet and ruled over "Zipcity." As rulers, our job is never over and we baked royal icing fit for a king. Our foreign affairs, took us to French Park, where we painted beautiful landscapes at French Park. Thank you Batsheva for your art lessons! Friday, we tried to keep really busy so we would not think that this was our last camp day with our counselors. We went bowling, had sports, and began our Scrapbooking project with Valencia. Have a great Shabbos! Love, Your TC Camper!!!!

10 Page Camp Ashreinu 2017!! Week 4 Boys Divsion Dear Parents, This past week was AWESOME!!!! Some of our activities included a slip and slide with the Amberley Fire Department, a BBQ, bonfire & kumzitz, and overnight, learning our Russian theme song, water balloon launching, a bean hunt, tug of war, staff basketball game, muddy buddies and sesame noodles with Mrs. Sollofe, key chains with Yehuda Raubvogel, socketball, volleyball, and lots of other sports. As usual, see the counselors newsletter for all the exciting details. Unfortunately, with all ruach comes some disappointment. We said goodbye to some outstanding staff members - Yitz Berg, Moish Feinstein, Aharon Tzvi Horowitz, Efraim Motzen, and Mordechai Scherer. We will miss them dearly and are grateful for their dedication. Dovi Weisberg has replaced Mordechai Scherer. Thank you Dovi! Next week we welcome new counselors. Stay tuned for details. Of course the most important part of camp is Davening, Learning, and Middos. Each Friday, we acknowledge one boy in every bunk who has excelled in each area.
