I love to tell the story; twill be my theme in glory To tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love. What a wonderful old hymn of the church. Even just reading the words of the refrain bring to my mind the beautiful tune I ve heard played on piano, organ, guitar and especially when sung a cappella. The message hits home the essence of our faith as we celebrate the risen Christ and share that story with one another and the world around us. This is the heart of the Easter message. Christ the Lord is risen today.., and changed the world forever more. The proclamation of Jesus is not just for Easter morning, but for everyday as we celebrate the love, grace, and mercy that are forever ours. Easter is not just one Sunday of the year, as a matter of fact the church calendar has seven Sunday s of Easter concluding with Pentecost which should serve to only charge our fervor in celebrating our faith and sharing that faith with every person we come across. My message for you today and always is Happy Easter! Christ the Lord is risen, He is risen indeed! Hallelujah! Amen! Now get out there and sing it with me. 2 MAUNDY THURSDAY WORSHIP SERVICE; THURSDAY, MARCH 24TH 6:30PM Please join your SPC family for our Maundy Thursday Worship Service on Thursday, March 24th beginning at 6:30pm. Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, is the Thursday of Passion Week, one day before Good Friday (the Friday before Easter). Maundy Thursday is the name given to the day on which Jesus celebrated the Passover with His disciples, known as the Last Supper. Thank you to each and every individual who donated Easter eggs, candy and participated in SPC s Easter Egg Egg ravaganza!! Food When We re Fed Food When We re Fed will be a time to remind ourselves to bring food for others every time we gather for communion. To make this even easier, communion is now shared the first Sunday of every month. The next Food When We re Fed will be Sunday, April 3rd Let s take this opportunity to make a difference in the world around us. SENIOR ADULT LUNCHEON; TUESDAY, APRIL 5TH The Senior Adult Luncheon Group will meeting again on Tuesday, April 5th 10:30am Blood Pressure; 11:00am Entertainment; Noon Lunch!! Meat is provided. Please bring a side dish or a dessert.

3 TRASH BAG FUNDRAISER Liz and Miranda Gibson are selling trash bags to help get them to Presbyterian Youth Triennium this summer. Triennium is a gathering of over 5,000 Presbyterian youth from all over the country and even world. Every three years these young people gather at Purdue University for a week of fellowship, learning and worship. Liz and Miranda will be a part of Heartland Presbytery s delegation to Triennium. The bags are $10 per roll and available at church on Sunday and throughout the week. Questions, please contact Pastor Gibson. Interfaith Hospitality Network IHN Shawnee Presbyterian Church has been invited back into this wonderful network of churches who together provide a program for homeless families to re-establish themselves in the community. Our role will be to provide two evening meals and entertainment for the program s four families and to do this approximately once every two months. Our first two evenings to provide for will be late March and early April. Much more information coming about this exciting opportunity for our congregation.

5 SHAWNEE PRESBYTERIAN COMMUNITY GARDENS 2016 Spring is Coming!! Would you like to be able to grow fresh vegetables but do not have the space in your yard or have too many trees and no sunny spots? You can have your own plot right here on the church property. We will be preparing the garden as done in previous years opening up our garden area to local individuals who would like to rent a 10 x15 or a 20 x30 plot. Community Garden rules/regulations and application forms are in the SPC office. After the applications are accepted, we will let you know your plot number and when you will be able to dig-in. Please invite your friends and neighbors who may be interested. For more information please contact the church office at (913) or go online for the documents. A Few Extra Coins for the Noisy Offering This Sunday Can you drop a few extra coins in the noisy offering this Sunday? It will be added to the Love Funds SPC established at SMNW High School and Hocker Grove Middle School. A new semester has begun affecting many of the families in our community with additional expenses. If you would like to support the Love Funds but will not be at church on Sunday, you can still make noise by adding to the love fund jar in the office. Mission Committee Hands-on, Sitting-down Needs YOU April 13th Have you thought about trying the Hands-on, Sitting-down group? We would really like for you to help us this month. Drop in and say Hi! Our next meeting will be 9:30 am to??? on Wednesday, April 13th in the SPC parlor. If you want to become better acquainted with each other while working on projects to help others, this is the perfect opportunity. The Noisy Offering donations for January were $ This offering is amazing as we collect change for these funds in tin cans which then result in equal gifts to Shawnee Mission North West High School and Hocker Grove Middle School.

MONTHLY LADIES PRAYER GROUP On the 3 rd Wednesday of every month, SPC s ladies prayer group meets at 11:30am at Le Peep off 79 th & Quivira. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL The Adult Sunday School Class is held on Sunday s at 9am in the Parlor. EARLY BIRD BIBLE STUDY Bible Study will take place in the Parlor Tuesday s at 9am. This spring we are studying the Book of Acts. Exception: No EBBS on 1st Tuesday of Month due to SAG Luncheon. Proceeds benefit Cross-Lines Community Outreach, serving the poor in Kansas City, Ks and 50% of your cost is tax-deductible.
