Barkett, Pastor Christmas Mass Schedule Sunday, Dec. 24 th : 4 p.m. (Children s Choir); 6 p.m.; 8 p.m. and Midnight Monday, Dec. 25 th : 9 a.m. (Bishop Burbidge celebrating); 11 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. All Masses will be held in the Worship Center. Please join us for Christmas Carols about 20 minutes before the 4, 6 & 8 p.m. Christmas Eve Masses and the 9, 11 & 12:30 Christmas Day Masses, and 45 minutes before the Midnight Mass. Schedule Changes for Christmas Week There will not be a 6:30 a.m. Mass at the Historic Church the week of Dec. 25 th. There will not be Adoration on Wednesday, Dec. 27 th, or Friday, Dec. 29 th, and no Confessions on Wednesday, Dec. 29 th. **There will not be a 5 p.m. Mass on Dec. 31 st. ** The Parish Center will be closed the week of Dec. 25 th - 29 th. Solemnity of Mary, Holy Mother of God This year, Jan. 1 st, the Solemnity of Mary, Holy Mother of God, is not a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be at Midnight at the Historic Church, preceded by a Holy Hour beginning at 11 p.m. Dec. 31 st, and 9:15 a.m. at the Worship Center. What better way to begin the new year than to come to Mass and honor the Holy Mother of God! Mary said, Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word. Luke 1: 38

We need to raise $5 million in pledges for the diocese to give us permission to move forward with the building of our new church. We currently have over $3.3 million in pledges and they continue to come in. We are very grateful for those that have given to the campaign and now we need the help of those that have not contributed. The campaign will continue for three years so you will have plenty of time to pay off pledges and while it is not a legal commitment to fill out a pledge card, we will ask for your redemption. We are certainly understanding of any inability for people to fulfill their pledge. This campaign is significant as we plan to be able to start and complete the building process throughout the redemption period. So at the end of the 3 years we will (most likely) be sitting in the pews of the new church with our Blessed Mother s Seven Sorrows in stained glass over the tabernacle. There are pledge cards (envelopes) in the foyer for you to fill out or take home and fill out! They can be returned to the front office, put in the collection basket or mailed in. Friday Holy Hour St. Mary's offers Friday evening Holy Hours at the Historic Church on the second through fourth (or fifth) Fridays each month. The next scheduled Holy Hour is Friday, Dec. 29 th at 7:30 pm. Please come to spend time with our Lord through quiet prayer and reflection before His presence in the Blessed Sacrament. Lighthouse Catholic Media Special Christmas Book for All At all of the Christmas Masses this year, each family will receive a gift from the priests of St. Mary s Parish a copy of the book Joy to the World: How Christ s Coming Changed Everything (and Still Does), by Scott Hahn. Reading this book will give you a beautiful perspective on the true meaning of Christmas. The books will be on a table in the foyer. One book per family please. Epiphany Water Blessing Returns Friday Evening January 5 th On Friday evening, Jan. 5 th, the Vigil of the Epiphany, we will celebrate the blessing of holy water in a special liturgy from the tradition of the Eastern Church. Participants are invited to bring your water in gallon or large containers to be blessed. Each one must be blessed individually by the priest. Be sure to mark the containers with your name so that you can retrieve them after the blessing. You may also bring religious articles to be blessed after the service. 700 St. Mary

All altar servers are encouraged to be there. Those existing servers interested in MC training please show up as well. Rosary Leaders Each weekend there are many opportunities to lead the rosary before Mass. A step-by-step guide is available if you have never led the rosary before. Sign up is easy. Thank you to all who helped with the Preschool coat drive and brought a little warmth to our little ones this winter. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION K - 6 th Registration for Faith Formation Do You have a child who will be entering 1st grade in the fall of 2018? Preparation for the sacrament of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion starts in first grade. Children receive the sacraments in the 2nd grade. HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY St. Mary s Youth Ministry St. Mary s Youth Ministry is on break, but don t forget to check out our upcoming events at PARISH SOCIAL MINISTRY The Samaritan Fund Through the Samaritan Fund we are able to help men, women and children in need, regardless of their race, creed or national origin. What can you do? First, pray for those in need and for those who are dedicated to helping. Then, make a monetary donation to St. Mary s Samaritan Fund, so that we ll be able to continue responding as we have done, with prayer and financial assistance. We will also need your active support for our many jobs and needs for Hypothermia week; we particularly want to encourage younger adults to participate. There are a limited number of teen jobs available also. Youth Music Festival Bishop O Connell High School invites all 6 th through 8 th grade students to be a part of their 4 th annual Youth Music Festival on Saturday, Dec. 30 th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day includes music clinics, performance and much more. Diocesan Science Fair Judges Needed The Diocesan Science Fair needs individuals with a science background to help judge seventh and eighth grade students' research projects for the 2018 Diocesan Science Fair. These projects encompass such categories as botany, health, chemistry, zoology, behavioral science, engineering, physics, math and other areas of life and physical science.
