3 Welcome to Hope Christian Reformed Church! Nursery is available, as well as a quiet room in the northeast corner (Classroom 9) where the service can be viewed on the TV. The morning service will be played at 1:00pm on Sunday and the evening service will be played at 10:00am on Thursday. As we worship in this Lenten season, we remember Jesus journey to the cross. He calls us to a life of humble sacrifice as well. This morning, we welcome Abbie Jansma who will be providing ministry of music during the offertory. Pastor Todd will be preaching from Mark 8:34-9:1. In the evening, Pastor Todd will be reading from Jeremiah 23:1-8. Let us worship God today! THIS WEEK AT HOPE This morning after the service the congregation will be asked to remain in the sanctuary for completion of a short survey. Children and visitors will have time to leave following the benediction. Additional details will be provided by council at the time of completion. The Circle of Hope will meet on Wednesday at 2pm. Study lesson 7. Joan H. will serve. Cadets: meet at the clubhouse Wednesday, February 28 at 6:45 pm for a regular meeting. Do lesson A-16 in your Feb. Quest. Congratulations to the Snow Derby team in tying for 1st place on February 17 - great job guys! Classis Heartland: meets on Saturday, March 3, at Immanuel CRC in Sheldon. On Sunday evening the post classic pulpit exchange will bring Rev. J. William Van Der Heide to our church and Pastor Todd will be leading worship at Hawarden CRC.

4 HOPE CRC PRAISE & PRAYER CONCERNS Betty Van Schepen was able to return home and continues her recovery. Please pray for continued peace and healing for Betty. We give thanks that PFC Cruise V. De Groot will be graduating from Advanced Individual Training in the United States Army in Fort Lee, Virginia on Feb 28. Please continue to keep him in prayer in his work and travels during the coming year. We praise God with Justin and Mandy Hoekstra in the birth of their daughter, Kendyl Hayze, on February 15. Mother and baby are home and doing well. Jemma Jean De Jong, daughter of Sarah and Todd De Jong, and grand-daughter of Diana and Dave Kooima was able to return home this past week. We praise God and continue to pray for stability and strength for Jemma. We pray for many others who continue to recover from recent surgeries, illnesses, or treatments. We pray for peace, patience, and endurance. We remember our members who reside in care facilities: Marv Boon at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City, and Evelyn Dykstra in Byron Center Manor in Byron Center, MI. We also pray for their families as they support them. FIRST CRC PRAISE & PRAYER CONCERNS LeRoy Jongetjes was released from Avera McKennan Hospital on Tuesday afternoon and is recovering at Pleasant Acres. Pray for God s healing mercies. Give thanks that Bob Soodsma continues to recover from hip replacement surgery. Pray for a complete recovery. Skyler Bonestroo began physical therapy on Monday. Continue to remember him in your prayers. Pray for Shar Bonestroo s mom, Betty den Hoed, who began chemo treatments for Stage III ovarian cancer. Pray for Betty and her family. Continue to remember Darlene Kroese as she recovers from surgery. Charles and Darlene are in room 28 at Pleasant Acres. Henry Kats is scheduled for surgery for colon cancer on Wednesday at the Sioux Center Hospital. Pray the surgery would go well and for a complete recovery. Congratulations to Rick and Koni Leusink on the birth of a son, Kip Dwayne, born on February 15 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Pray for our shut ins: Sally De Groot, Florence Kroese, and Melvin Van Otterloo at Pleasant Acres; Joyce De Vries, Verne Huisman, Julianne Kats, Anthony Smit, and Goldie Veldman at Aspen Heights; Esther Rozeboom in her son s home, Wilma Altena at the Good Samaritan Society in George, and Ardelle Westra in Sioux City.

6 THANK YOU Praise the Lord that baby Jemma DeJong was able to come home. The trip went great and they are settling in. A huge thank you for all the prayers, above all we give God the glory for his healing grace and faithfulness!!! Thank you!! Dave and Diana Kooima Congratulations to PFC Cruise V. De Groot who will be graduating from Advanced Individual Training in the United States Army in Fort Lee, Virginia on Feb 28. After graduation Cruise will be home, but will have to spend a few weekends in Hastings, NE during the months of March and April. Most of the month of May he will be training with a unit out of Lincoln, NE. Then on June 3, Cruise will be deployed to the Middle East (location is not known to us). As his Church Family we ask for you to pray for him daily/weekly until he returns back to us in March Thank you! Baby Shower: Ladies please join us for a baby shower on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:00pm for Jemma DeJong, Piper DeKam and Shiloh Vink. Please note: Clothing Size: 3-6 month or bigger for all three girls. Save the Date: The annual day of prayer service will be held at First CRC on Wednesday, March 14, at 7:00pm. Church Auction: The annual Church Education Auction is coming up on March 21. Now is a great time to start thinking about what to donate! Need some ideas? How about a beautiful wood project, indoor and outdoor decor, a certificate to paint a room, babysit, or detail a car? Save the date for this fun-filled night and get working on your best ideas! Save the Date: What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus' last supper have in common? Eli Birnbaum, with Jews for Jesus, will answer that question as he, presents "Christ in the Passover" on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30pm here at Hope CRC. Gain insights on how the pieces of God's plan of salvation fit together, and remember this visual display of the Passover pageantry for years to come. There will be no admission charge.

7 COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS All Nations Worship Gathering: All Nations City Church is a ministry in Sioux Falls that hosts gatherings of believers from all nations. On Sunday, February 25, we welcome you to a wonderful event at Church at the Gate, 6820 W. 26th St., Sioux Falls! A potluck supper with various ethnic foods will be from 5-6pm. A worship time with a variety of music and cultural expressions will be from 6-7:30pm. Women s Connection: All ladies are invited to the Women s Connection on Wednesday, February am in the Whispering Heights Senior Center. The inspirational speaker is Gwen Clemons of Soldier, IA with the message, A Miracle and Nothing Less. Sarita Van Maanen will feature Plexus-A New You. Music will be provided by Nancy Sharon of the Notables, playing her accordion. An offering will be received for Stonecroft Ministries. Brunch is $4.00. Reservations are essential so please call Winifred at or Bertha at if you would like to come. Center For Financial Education: is hosting a Financial Peace University (FPU) class beginning on Sunday, March 4. The class will be held 9 consecutive Sundays (skipping Easter Sunday). Attendees are invited to come to the Bridge of Hope Ministry Center at 43 2nd Street NE in Sioux Center from 1:30-3:30pm (use SW entrance). Materials cost $109 per couple, payable to Center for Financial Education. The class link to register is Love INC: Love INC s spring session of Faith & Finance class is starting on March 6! They will be held at Trinity Christian Reformed Church on Tuesday evenings. Daycare provided and inspired incentives! Music Recital: Dordt College invites the community to attend a guest recital by German pianist Andreas Klein at 7:30 pm on Friday, March 2, in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Klein will perform pieces by Beethoven, Debussy, Prokofiev, and Brahms. Klein will also present a piano masterclass on Saturday, March 3, in the B.J.Haan. GEMS Leadership Conference: GEMS is celebrating its 60 th birthday this year and we plan to kick off the celebration at the 2018 Conference. Any woman is invited to attend! More details to come. SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS Dordt College: invites you to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Agriculture Department on Friday, March 2. There will be an open house in the lobby of the Science building beginning at 7p. Dr. Duane Bajema, who will be retiring this summer, will also be honored. Please RSVP to Helen Dordt Instrumental Ensembles: On Tuesday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m., three of Dordt s Instrumental Ensembles will perform at the B.J. Haan auditorium. The concert will feature the Campus-Community Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band. Highlights include Ticheli s four-movement suite Simple Gifts, which features settings of various Shaker melodies, a jazz funk classic titled Chameleon, and Thomas Knox s stirring piece and grace will lead me home, which is a beautiful setting of the hymn Amazing Grace, that premiered at the memorial service for the Oklahoma City bombing in Dordt Choral Ensembles: Three Dordt College Choral Ensembles will present a concert on Wednesday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium, featuring Bella Voce, Kantorei, and Chorale. A wide variety of choral music will be performed, including deeply moving settings of Scriptural texts, energetic spirituals, vocal jazz standards, lyrical art songs, and fresh settings of old folk songs.
