Those who have been nominated for the office of elder are James Van Ginkel and Darwin Ver Hoeven. Those nominated for the office of deacon are Jake Erpenbach and Randy Van Hill. If you have a biblical reason for any of these men not being able to serve in the respected position, please visit with a consistory member or Pastor Rob. On Thanksgiving Day, we will be taking a gift card offering instead of a hat and glove offering. These gift cards will be given to the families of loved ones in long-term hospitalization or rehab. These gift cards can be used to relieve some of the financial burden of travel and meal expenses, and other family needs. Some families included, but not limited to, are the families of Trenton Bass, Sharla (Spaans) Van Beek (aunt of Lindsey Van Den Top and sister of Linda Roemen and Daryl Spaans), and Carol Van Stelton. The First Reformed Women s Ministry is looking for a vice president and a secretary for the coming year. JOYS AND CONCERNS Mark & Lisa Wheeler s mother, Marlene Wheeler, was diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease and her health is declining rapidly. She is in the process of moving into a long- term care facility and they ask for our prayers. Carol Van Stelton received a good report. The stem cell transplant was successful, and her leukemia is in remission. She is hoping to come home next week. Mona Dewit had an angiogram that revealed no heart issues. More tests will be done to determine the cause of her shortness of breath. Mona would like to thank the congregation for the prayers. Please continue to pray for healing and strength. Pray for healing for Steve Ahrendt and the helicopter pilot, who were involved in a crash this past week. Dave Mulder of Doon found out that his cancer is back and there is nothing more they can do. He will start hospice care soon. Dave is very young with a wife and small children who are now preparing to say goodbye. Please pray for him, his family, his friends and neighbors. He has been strong and faithful. Please pray for peace for this point in the journey. Pray for Sutherland Springs and First Baptist Church. Send the church a card or note and let them know of your love and your prayers. The address is: First Baptist Church, 216 4th St, Sutherland Springs, TX And finally, trust that the unfailing love of the Lord will never end for the people of Sutherland Springs, and will never end for each of us. The Inwood Community Worship service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19 at the Inwood Community Center. This year we re doing something a little different. We are having a potluck at 5:30; bring a hot or cold dish along with something to drink. The worship service will start at 6:30. Pastor Rob will be giving the message and everyone is invited to attend this community gathering as we give thanks to our Lord. We have a Care Group update and change we would like to pass along to the congregation. The consistory met and considered some changes requested by the care group chairmen, as the responsibilities that they have can be overwhelming at times. These chairmen have served as Care Group chairmen for both the Care Group and Work Group Chair responsibilities. We have decided to move to a Care Group Chair and a Work Group Chair within the Care Group. The Care group chair will be responsible for the overall care group needs and concerns just as before, with the exception of work group needs or work assigned to the group would now fall under the Work Group chair. The Care Group chairperson will be asking someone in their care group to fill the role of Work Group chair. We ask that you be open and pray about this when you are asked to fill this important role. We will also attach a sheet that explains the responsibilities of each chair position so you know what is expected and the responsibilities you have. Please give this some serious consideration as our church continues to grow and the need for more servants/workers is much needed. - Thank you! The Consistory The Inwood Christian School Board will be meeting on Monday evening, November 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the school office. Inspiration Hills Women s Auxiliary would like to invite everyone to our annual Harvest Dinner on Monday, November 13. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Meal cost is $13 per person. Following dinner, we will be entertained by LaVonne Hansen from Hartley, IA. She is a chalk artist who shares an inspirational story as she draws. A freewill offering will be taken to support auxiliary projects for Inspiration Hills. Make your reservations by Monday, November 6 with the Inspiration Hills Office, phone or toll free at or jenny@inspirationhills.org."
